2022 NBA Finals on ABC is 5th least-watched series since 1988

Is there anything that can be done to increase viewership?

What we’re saying is the social media stuff isn’t translating to eyeballs on the product. I barely see folks tweeting rugby but it annually draws 2.5 billion viewers. I know folks who are in this thread complain about 9PM start times but are waking up at the crack of dawn to watch F1 or EPL.
Based on what? Do you have numbers of all viewers regardless of media source?

You think social media is created to exclusively drive TV viewership?

The whining about 9p.m. Eastern start time is bullshyt. Like everyone wasn't staying up late to watch Game of Thrones or whatever the hot show of the moment on HBO . The product is simply trash now. Just chucking 3s. No one dunks anymore except centers who can hardly jump
Does a Game of Throne episode last 2-3 hours :comeon:

Anyway that’s not the reason ratings are down across the board for all media. People nowadays digest content in different ways and have more options than ever before.

Your old man yelling at cloud bullshyt about three pointers is just that bullshyt. Lmaoo at players not dunking anymore what league are you watching and what romanticized view of the past do you have that dunks were so common then?

The last thing the league needs is 82-77 games and an abundant chucking of midrange shots in an era where people have less attention span than ever

It’s crazy you have to explain this to functioning adults. Anyone with common sense can see a large part of America doesn’t support the NBA because the players speak out about issues & players have control over their own careers, yet dudes are blaming the 3 point shot.
America hasnt supported the NBA since MJ left.

According to what data?
I don’t have the data but common sense should tell you that social media activity should also translate into viewership of some sort. I’m also looking at the NFL who decided to not let their product be abused in highlight packages. We cant even upload NFL highlights in here. The NFL makes youtube take down many of the highlights made by fans. Its by design to keep fan interest into watching games. I felt it was genius and thought the NBA needed to go the same route.

Aight breh, when you come back with the data I'll accept your point.

Until then I'm not giving it credence.

Again, the numbers aren't adding up. TV ratings are down yet companies are flocking to the league. Franchise values are as high as ever. "Common sense" would tell you people are still paying attention and keeping the league popular through other means.

Yes there's something they can do. Stop calling stupid fouls every 5 seconds. We watch the NBA to watch the players not the refs. It's fukked up that some refs are more famous to fans than some guys on bad teams.

the nba need a Tim Tebow type cac to be a top 5 player for ratings to go up I know niqqas in this thread think I’m :troll:but I’m really not if some how a white American born player with the same image as Tebow become a top 5 player the ratings would shoot up or a team like the 80s Celtics with a white superstar and multiple white players on the team that non causal white Americans can root for:manny:
Imagine the Knicks and Bulls with superstar white american players the ratings would triple :mjpls:

when you put eastern conference home games on at 9PM, only die hards are going to watch
Yeah this was frustrating. Having games end near midnight was ridiculous. Had to watch the Dal-Phx games with the start time at 10 PM. I don't know what they can do to be honest. Especially also including people are streaming the games as well. Didn't like the finals games starting at 9PM.

I also remember how bad people were talking about that 2005 series between SA and Detroit. That was a great series.

nikkas be in here just rambling and emotionally venting their half baked business 101 theories
How is it half baked when both the NFL and MLB are policing whats being posted on social media?

And lets be real….the NBA has had viewership problems before the advent of streaming. shyt…the few seconds MJ left in the 90s, it showed itself.

Why watch the entire game when you can watch a 5 min highlight video on Twitter or YouTube immediately afterwards? I think unlike the NFL, a lot of NBA fans don't watch games much if they have other things to do. The NFL is an event and people plan their days around big games.
