I agree. But at the same time Dallas when I visited seemed more lively. And not sure if Nashville is part of the Sunbelt, but that city was lively as fukk
Dallas has more areas centralized near downtown. Deep Ellen, Uptown, Victory Park, Bishop Arts, Arts District, etc. are right next to each other near downtown. Houston has these but they aren’t next to each other and it’s not as cohesive. I think Houston has a better food scene, and museums (best in the South imo). But nightlife is where Dallas has a very slight edge.

Nashville is just like Austin. Austin has the best downtown in Texas by far.

The OG thread in 2017 had the following cities, in order, with the multiple mentions as being overrated:

New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, Toronto, Las Vegas, Boston, Houston, Chicago, Washington

The OG also mentioned a few other cities once as overrated:

New Orleans, Phoenix, Dallas, Portland, St Louis, Raleigh, Orlando, Richmond

So now 6 years later, new thread, I like these kinds of threads because this is a majority black site so you get the range of opinions for how black people look at shyt. On the present day, what do yall consider the most overrated cities?
So basically anywhere people want to live :pachaha:

If you prefer a lower standard of living just say that :dead:

Nah, some of us brehs have aesthetic taste. We have an appreciation for beauty, art, identity, culture, and history.

People who gravitate to HoustonLantaVegas cities don't have that. And it shows forth in the very bland essence of these cities.

Bruh I'm 34, too old to learn new shyt. But I'm definitely into cities, I used to get those Rand McNally maps as a kid and draw in em and create my own trips I'm my mind...
For something you don't give a fukk about and just tryna chase a salary? Yeah. A certificate for a genuine interest? I wouldn't say that.

I have property in Nashville.
Nashville is lit.

One of the few southern cities I'd live in.
It has identity.
It has culture.

Robust culinary scene.
Robust art scene.
Robust nightlife.

Has one of the top academic institutions in the south.

Has about four HBCUs.

Tons of activities if you're into the outdoors.
Lots of good looking people.

Only downside is real estate. Can get pricey.
Nashville has similarities to Raleigh. It's an academic mecca for the South (as is Raleigh), ton of concentrated brain power and wealth. Has multiple HBCUs like Raleigh. Is derided as a "white city" by many, because of how the city has long marketed itself, but has a storied black history and healthy black presence today---->again like Raleigh...

Raleigh also has a pretty active outdoors scene, good looking people, its a fashion-forward city and a hustler's paradise---->you gotta go and get it if you wanna thrive here. Everywhere isn't like that, and in Raleigh you'd be surrounded by other hustlers and innovators. It's a dope city quality and I would gather Nashville may have that in common...

Raleigh has plenty of identity and culture but has historically done a terrible job of marketing itself and its benefits. And it definitely doesnt have the social scene Nashville has at all, though Raleigh isn't terrible there...

I just spent most of this afternoon in Downtown Dallas. There was a decent amount of activity for a Sunday, but there are other cities with more motion on a Sunday, so that stood out. Also considering how big the city of Dallas is as a whole, Downtown really isn't that large. It's comparatively small, like it doesn't feel or look larger than Downtown Atlanta, it honestly feels more on the scale of a Pittsburgh or Charlotte-sized downtown. It's obviously got the amenities of a major city but it's not quite as grand in size or scale as I recall, but then it's been well over a decade since I've seen Dallas...

I want to reiterate though, I prefer Dallas to Atlanta, I am not an Atlanta advocate at all...

It is as country as I remember, though. Dallas, Fort Worth too. Like shyt like this is directly outside Downtown Dallas:

335 N Ewing Ave

And several residential areas in the core with hit or miss sidewalks or not...
OP needs a travel web series like Anthony Bourdain ... he not capitalizing :russ:
I do 🤣...
