Can anyone explain why Oregon is ahead of Ole Miss and Tamu?

ND doesn't necessarily need to join a conf.

But they schedule these early big games and hopefully catch other teams off guard in week 1 or 2.

They need to find a later season slot to play a big game, this way the committee can judge them on something recent vs a game dang near in August
The only marquee teams that have an opening late in the season like that are the SEC teams. But they too busy scheduling Coastal Missouri International.

I don't see ND ever making the playoff with more than 1 loss.. unless the 2 losses happen to be close losses to top 5/10 teams AND a win or two vs a top 10 team too.

Fair or not.. this is gonna put pressure on them to join a league.

Schools like Bama, Michigan, OSU USC ect can all make more money being independent. But they dont.. cause its wack. And it hurts college football.

Good for JMU and Tulane but in no way are they 2 of the 12 best teams in the nation. We got to fix this.

It's nothing to fix.

- The system is designed to keep the G-5 teams down jn the rankings with one team getting a 12 seed, especially with how they tweaked everything after Boise got that bye last year.

- Notre dame refuses to join a conference and really didnt play a tough schedule outside of their 2 losses.

- Shoot, if Virginia won last night, they wouldve got the 11th seed and nobody would've complained even though they're really no better than JMU of Tulane frfr.

- the super conference system is the problem with the power 4 conferences. Most teams don't even play each other so the conference title games end up weird most of the time, and it's a mess for the ACC & Big 12 in particular, unless they have an elite team like this year's Texas tech. And shoot, notre dane coukdve been that for the ACC, even despite their loss to miami.

I wonder if this were to happen say ... 3/4 times in the next 5 years.. would that make them re-think things?
Probably the only scenario where they join a conference outside another covid like outbreak. To much money with the nbc deal and not having to share playoff revenue with anybody else.

I mean they’re kinda betting on the 5 ACC games they play a year will yield a big win. The probably is that the expanded ACC brought over garbage to dilute the scheduling

So the hallowed cfb playoff, has unnecessary RE-MATCHES of..... OU - Alabama, and Tulane - Ole Miss.

:what:

The appeal of the playoff is seeing intriguing matchups you wouldn't normally see. And the reason they got away from previous setups to avoid Bama/LSU playing again in the post-season

with the SEC expanding to 9 conference games now, there's no point of any SEC team scheduling a big oo conf game.
The mega conferences means that either big ooc games or conference chips will be sacrificed. This current playoff format Puts both of them in jeopardy.

One solution is to have a P4 conference final 4 then have the conference champ winners play a national final 4.

This format means everyone has a defined path and there is no more committee and you have to win your conference to win a National chip

But do you really think JMU can win the college football NATIONAL TITLE?

The answer is no. So thennext question is, what are we doing here?
Just giving teams a chance to likely get blown out on a national stage?

This is the NIL era so getting exposure doesn't mean anything anymore like it did when Boise St won the

Oklahoma, Alabama & miami don't have a chance either.:manny:
