The problem is viewing this through a lens of qualification in the first place. I'm not hiring someone to be my lawyer, or do corporate taxes. I'm hiring someone to represent me in government. The most important things are character, judgement....and their stances on issues. Crockett's stances on issues are entirely tied to the most generic "don't rock the boat" democrat positions imaginable. She votes exactly how they want. She peddles their talking points. She supports their leadership. Why would I want that over someone who thinks for himself, has better positions and supports more things I support? Those are the only "qualifications" I care about.

This is why I think the qualification thing is a trap. Because it incentivizes braindead career or academic advancement that's completely divorced from competency, character, thought process, intellect, etc. I deal with this at work all the time. Looking at resumes from people who have all the academic qualifications but can't do the fukking job because they keep going back to school instead of getting experience. Your degree doesn't tell me how smart you are. Trump went to a great school. I want to know how you think and what's important to you. And I think the type of people who gravitate to Hillary, Kamala, and Crockett tend to be girl boss sycophants who think they should be handed jobs because they went to class.

I don't disagree with you entirely, but Jasmine Crockett is not in the same class as Kamala Harris or Hilary Clinton. Say what you will about the latter two, but they are at least serious people.

I was not a fan of Kamala's, but I did not have to hold my nose to vote for her, especially over the alternative. I would definitely have had to hold my nose to vote for Jasmine Crockett.

Dawg, Talarico holds basically the same, if not more conservative positions than Jasmine.

We can say he ran a better campaign and leave it at that.

To pretend he’s some progressive stalworth while Jasmine is a milquetoast Dem is ducktales.

Yeah she moved badly and should have never ran. Whoever consulted her hopefully took the money and ran. She could have stayed in congress and continued to rise just doing what she already does.
I actually agree. texas will be bluer in 10 years anyway. She would have had more of a shot.
Who do you mean by we just for clarification? People that didn’t vote for Jasmine? There’s nothing to vent about if your guy won and just put his name on the national dem radar
Black people that didn't support her. Latinos that didn't support her. It felt like your were a c00n for not supporting her even after making assine comments about Latinos. That's really why she lost imo. You can't say that in a place where 40 percent of the population is Mexicans.
Then the people calling Jasmine ghetto unqualified trash and the million people that voted for her the same should start respecting them or at minimum stop provoking them because they aren’t winning anything in Texas without black people. They are just lucky for their own self preservation black people will have to vote on their side in November

Look if you say vote blue no matter who, you gotta stick to that. Everyone has to going forward. We can cant call out progressives for sitting at home and do that. I agree black voters need respect but black voters are not the only voters, we gotta win elections to get orange guy outta here,

Im also getting tired of leftist accepting this “identity politics” framework started by the right.

It’s a strawman. Never not once has a Black politician said vote for me cause I’m Black or a woman.

Might as well go full mask off and say Jasmine is a “DEI hire”.
Please. She was out here calling everyone else names. At some point, you have to accept responsibility. Somehow Warnock got elected but she didn't? You're right it's not because she's black. It's everything else.

Jasmine was out here calling James and his supporters names?? When?

Her campaign was basically "I'm a fighter. Been fighting Trump and I'll keep fighting him for you" vs James "unifying, faith based" tone.

But I never saw her (or him for that matter) go negative on each other.

Still, there was never a "vote me for cause I'm Black" message to Jasmine which is what you guys who keep doing with calling her an "identify politic" candidate.

She called latinos names

"Slave mentality"

You can't say that in a election.

Agreed. That's never been my argument. You're moving goal posts again.

I'm born and raised in AZ. I know first hand how Anti-Blackness (desire for White acceptance) runs incredibly strong in Latino community.

She was dumb for saying that out loud and then trying to run for statewide office in TX.

I have always found the "identity politics" critique hollow, especially in this race, when Talarico explicitly tailored his messaging to Latino voters and suburban whites. That's very much an identity-based appeal, even if it's framed as "broad" or "mainstream."

She doesn’t support his more populist positions. And from a judgement perspective would you say insulting Hispanics is a smart thing to do in a state like Texas? No of course not. Yet that’s what she decided to do. My point is that everything about her is off putting, she ran a bad campaign and is too tied to the democrat establishment. That type of candidate isn’t beating someone who is willing to say Biden sucked.

She also ran in a red state while claiming she doesn’t want Trump voters supporting her. So you diss Hispanics and tell disillusioned Trump voters to kick rocks. How do you win Texas?
