I remember when I was a young kid (probably about 3 or 4), and thinking that Little Richie (the mulatto boy with the jerry curl on the show) and Mariah Carey were the same person.![]()

Kellie Shanygne Williams Is Actually Older than Her TV Older Brother
Steve Urkel, who was originally planned to appear in jut one episode
At nine seasons Family Matters had the second longest run for a sitcom with a predominately African-American cast. The only show that tops it is The Jeffersons with 11 seasons. With 254 episodes, though, Tyler Perry's House of Payne beats both The Jeffersons (253 episodes) andFamily Matters (215) despite running for only eight seasons.
Family Matters was, in fact, a spin-off of the popular sitcom Perfect Strangers. Jo Marie Payton played Harriette Winslow on both series. Family Matters ended up lasting a full season longer thanPerfect Strangers, on which Harriette was an elevator operator

Jaleel White grew up fast over the nine seasons Family Matters was on the air. To keep him looking as young as possible, White was required to shave daily and avoid any exercise that would bulk him up.

Before becoming Steve Urkel, Jaleel White was up for the role of Rudy on The Cosby Show. Yes, Rudy was originally intended to be a little boy, but ultimately the role was changed and went to Keshia Knight Pulliam. So you can thank (or blame) Bill Cosby for Steve Urkel.

This part kind of fcked up the mood for me.Jaimee Foxworth played the role of Judy, the youngest Winslow child, for four seasons. When Foxworth attempted to negotiate for a larger salary, though, Judy was written off the show without explanation. Later episodes revised the family's history so that Judy simply never existed!
They could have paid her, dammit.R.I.P. Michelle Thomas. I didn't know it was cancer that killed her and that she was only 30. That is so sad.Michelle Thomas played Myra Monkhouse for several seasons of Family Matters. Her battle with stomach cancer caused her to exit the show shortly before it was cancelled. Tragically, she passed away within a year.
I always liked Mother. R.I.P. Rosetta LeNoire.By the time she left the show, Rosetta LeNoire, who played Estelle "Mother" Winslow, was 85 years old. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 90.

for what? I saw all the episodes she was in, she didn't add anything to the show. Make no mistake the show was about to be cancelled until they brought out Urkel. He was the show, the only actors who weren't expendable were Carl and Laura and the guy who played Waldo Geraldo Faldo. You could literally replace everybody else like they did with Harriet and have the same show.I remember when I was a young kid (probably about 3 or 4), and thinking that Little Richie (the mulatto boy with the jerry curl on the show) and Mariah Carey were the same person.![]()

I was gonna order it on my cable plan.Great show back in the day, but unwatchable now.
I tried but Urkle was so annoying. and the stories were super corny.
I could see Rodney being on some shyt like: "Ay yo Ed you wanna hit this shyt?"Yea Rodney was an a$$hole![]()

damn, dirty shame!I dare one of you niiggas to watch this scene and not shed thug tears.

I watched this show for about three or four seasons, although I loved all the black tv shows this one was pretty corny. It's amazing to see their are no positive black shows on. The black image was more positive. All by design though.

It was corny but the 90s was full of corny black sitcoms. Jamie Foxx and Wayne Bros. was corny as hell too.I watched this show for about three or four seasons, although I loved all the black tv shows this one was pretty corny.
