How is fasting for 72 hours not a form of caloric restriction? Is a motherfukker gonna eat a 6000 calorie meal every 3 days?

Only cokeheads and nikkas on adderal can pull that shyt off.

Too many people starve themselves by getting on crazy calorie restriction diets and lose like 10-15 lbs the first month or so. Which is good to lose the weight but because theyre starving themselves to get there, they get really bad cravings for food, and most people fall back to bad habits and soon enough they gain back those lbs right away.

Best advice is to just go slow. You drink soda every day? The first week of your weight loss, you cut down to 5 sodas a week. Next week you cut it down to 3 and so on until you get it down to 0. You craving something sweet to drink. Buy a pack of mio or crystal light water enhancers. Zero calories and they taste good. You get yourself a sweet drink everyday without the extra calories.

How much fast food do you eat per week? Same with the soda, just cut back little by little until you get it down to 0. Or if thats not feasible, then at least down to once or twice a week. Replace the fast food with healthier options. Theres a ton of recipes or resources you can find online that will fit your needs. And thats the important part with regards to your diet. Finding foods that you can eat and feel fulfilled long term. How many people are gonna be good with eating grilled chicken breast and side of salad everyday. Steam fish and veggies every day. Etc? Not a lot of people. So look for recipes that you can enjoy eating for years.

As for working out to supplement your new diet its very simple. Do a Cardio exercise. Specifically moderate to slightly above moderate intensity cardio. Best one is running/jogging. Its free and you can do it almost anywhere. Moderate intensity is the best because you dont have to kill your body trying to do some hyper intense workouts. Find a pace that you can sustain for at least 30 minutes a day for your first week or two. When that starts to feel easier increase the running time and/or increase your pace and so on.

If you do it this way you will almost assuredly lose weight. I dont know if youll get down to 165 but you will be healthier than you are now and you have a better chance of sustaining the weight loss for years.

The reason fasting works better than caloric restriction is because it utilizes your body's natural hormones correctly. What people need to understand is that its the hormones that control our bodies. The main reason people don't lose weight is because of a hormone called "insulin". Whenever you eat food your insulin levels will spike. And when there is a lot of insulin in your body you will never burn fat. Even if you restrict your caloric intake you will still spike your insulin every time you eat thus never really getting into a fat burning mode. The reason is because it typically takes 24-36 hours after you eat your last meal for insulin levels to drop to a point where your body will start burning fat. This is why fasting works a lot better than caloric restriction when it comes to losing weight. When we fast we are basically working with our body's natural hormones to lose weight.

When you eat your one meal every 3 days, the goal is to try and eat as much nourishing food as you can. You don't wanna stuff yourself like a pig. But you do want to be completely full. I personally like to eat one bowl of fruit to start. Then I have plate full of carbs and protein with a side helping of healthy fats (like Avocado). Then I drink either water or a fruit juice that I make myself without any added sugar. A healthy male can typically consume anywhere from 3,000-4,000 calories in one sitting. Women a little less. If you can consume 6,000 calories of nourishing food in 1 hour then more power to you. But I prefer eating just enough to be full. The benefit of this way of eating is you only spike your insulin for those 24 hours after you eat your one meal. All the nutrients in that meal get consumed by the body to do things like build muscle. Then for the next 2 days your body will enter ketosis and start burning its own stored fat for energy.

Fasting is like hacking your own biology so that it works for your benefit at all times. Now that I've discovered fasting I'll never eat every day like I used to. I'm now strictly on a 48-72 hour eating cycle. While also throwing in a 7 day fast every month or so for the added health benefits.

It is not only possible, but easy.
1st things 1st is you have to identify and correct why you allowed yourself to get to 285 lbs. Just working out and eating right will not fix the underlying issue. It will only address the fat on your body temporarily and fat is just a symptom of a bigger issue. You can shed the fat, but if that problem is still there then the fat will come back. Is it depression? Is it lack of health/food education? Is it lack of fitness knowledge? Once you figure out what it is and address it, then you will instantly be on your way to your goal.

Also understand that this takes time. For some reason when people want to lose weight or get fit, they create this unnecessary deadline in their head as if the world will end if they do not meet it. This can take years to happen. It doesn't have to be next month. The most important thing is to become more fit and healthier and by wanting to start that process you are already on your way.

1. Face Reality - Go get a check up at the doctor. Find out your blood pressure, weight, body fat, BMI, etc... Once people hear these results and advice from a medical professional, it usually gives them the kick in the ass they need to get going.

2. Stop Making Excuses - You do know there are hours before 9am and hours after 5pm right? By that logic only jobless people should be in shape. You only need 30 - 60 minutes of exercise a day. You probably waste hours on your phone or watching TV. Understand you are making excuses and break that habit. The mind is extremely powerful. If you tell yourself negative things it is hard to make any progress. If you find yourself saying things like: "There isn't enough time" or "I'm too tired after work" or "I don't have access to a gym" etc.. then know that those are excuses and not real. MAKE THE TIME.

3. Change Your Diet - This is the most important step! You have to cut back or eliminate all the sugary and salty foods and drinks. Start cooking your food. Seriously! You can eat comfort foods, but just the mere fact that you are cooking it means you control what goes in it. YouTube will be a Godsend. There are literally millions of channels dedicated to teaching you how to cook healthy meals that are still good. And it is actually easier than you think. You don't have to eat bland chicken and rice with salads. You don't have to be like these IG fitness trainers that tell you to precisely measure everything you eat and count all calories and macros for everything. You can still eat tasty food, just healthier versions. Plus this saves you a gang of money. You can literally Google: "Pizza healthier version" and you will be amazed. Your diet is key. You can't out train a poor diet.

4. Create A Plan - This is important. If you don't know where to start, don't try to start. Plan it out first. Go week by week. How many times a week do you think you can work out? How long do you want to work out for? How many times can you cook in a week? Are you going to meal prep? What kind of exercise do I want to do? Once you have a thought out plan in place you will be more likely to stick with it instead of just winging it and being all over the place.

5. Exercise - This is #4 because it is the easy part. Understand that you do not need a gym to exercise. Again there are literally millions of videos on YouTube that have workouts you can do with minimal, to no equipment in you basement. The most important thing is to know how you want to exercise. Find a form of working out that you enjoy and can incorporate into your regimen. HIIT, Basketball, Rock Climbing, Swimming, Boxing, Running, CrossFit, etc... If you do not enjoy working out, you more than likely will quit and end up back to being overweight. If you do go to the gym, go in with workout plans. Know what you want to work and how many reps or how many intervals you will do. Going in without a plan usually leads to wandering around aimlessly and being in the gym for an hour, but only actually working out for 10 minutes.

6. Monitor Your Progress - This is important too. Take pictures of your body every day or every week or every couple of weeks. You look at your body everyday, so it's hard to notice any changes, but if you have photos to compare you can easily see changes/results. Once you start seeing results, I promise that will drive you to go even harder. Periodically weigh yourself. Do not let a number on a scale control you. Weight can play games with your head. Think about it like this; If you are 200 lbs and you lose 10 lbs of fat, but pack on 11 lbs of muscle you will be 201 lbs. The scale will be higher, but more than likely your body will be smaller. An alternative to weighing yourself is taking your measurements each week. Your weight fluctuates during the day, but your body measurements stay the same.

At the end of the day it is easy. Talk is cheap. We all want to reach body goals, but talking means nothing. You have to get off your ass and start TODAY.

The problem with this advice is the person will plateau quickly after losing that initial 15-20 lbs because the body will get used to the decrease in calories and decrease the metabolism as a result. Also reducing calories only increases hunger.

The best way to lose a lot of weight without plateauing as well as not being hungry all the time is to FAST. Fasting not only reduces hunger but it also leads to dramatic weight loss in a short period of time. The only reason people don't fast is because of fear. People think if they don't eat they will die. Or that they'll be hungry all the time. This couldn't be farther from the truth. As long as you have sufficient body fat in your body its impossible to die from fasting. Also because of the magic of our bodies we actually are no longer hungry if we fast for long periods of time.

Exercise and eating healthy foods are just the cherry on top. Fasting should be the bedrock of anyone's lifestyle if they want to lose weight.

False. I've done the fasting experiments myself. You don't feel hungry at all while fasting. People gotta realize that it isn't a lack of food that causes hunger, its a hormone known as Ghrelin. Our body when it runs low on food will send this hormonal signal to the brain telling us to eat. However, if you power through that short burst of Ghrelin you'll notice that the hunger goes away. Also Gherlin doesn't build the longer you go without eating. What happens is your body gets used to the lack of food and stops sending that hormone all together. Your body then just starts feeding on its own stored fat through a process known as ketosis. Once you enter ketosis you stop feeling hungry.

As long as you do the initial 72-96 hour fast and detox yourself from the inevitable sugar withdrawal it'll be smooth sailing from then on. People who are very fat can actually fast the longest because they have the most stored fat. There are obese people who have gone for 300+ days without any food. Their body just keeps feeding on all that fat they have stored and doesn't make them hungry. If homeboy who started this thread wanted he could actually fast for the next 6 months with zero food and get all the energy he needs from his stored fat reserves.

Ya'll need to stop fearing fasting. Its literally the most natural thing you can do. Our bodies were designed to FEAST then FAST.

If you go 300+ days without eating food how do you have the energy to work out? Also, wouldn't you lose whatever muscle mass you had?

If you go 300+ days without eating food how do you have the energy to work out? Also, wouldn't you lose whatever muscle mass you had?

I've not gone 300 days without food (only really obese people should try that cause they have the fat reserves to do so). I typically do 3 days fasts. This week I'm trying to fast for 7 days just to see if I can do it. From my experience doing 3 day fasts, I actually have the most energy during the fasting days. What happens is our bodies while fasting starts using its own fat reserves as energy. As a result you don't really feel hungry or tired. I'm able to go to the gym and lift intensely even though I haven't eaten in 2-3 days. Working out in a fasted state is actually optimal because you lose way more body fat while fasted than you do if you ate before the workout.

Now onto your muscle loss question. One of the amazing things about fasting is you actually don't lose muscle mass while fasting. Just think of it this way. When our ancestors were living as hunter-gatherers in the African savanna 100,000 years ago they would go days without food because food wasn't as plentiful back then. Remember they had to hunt to eat. So during those intervals where they wouldn't be eating, do you think it would be optimal for our bodies to start eating its own muscle mass for energy? If it did that then our ancestors wouldn't have the strength to go hunting and save themselves from starvation. Since our body is trying to keep us in the best possible state so that we continue to survive, it will not start eating its own muscle mass until it has gone through all of its fat reserves. Thus, when you are fasting as long as you have fat in your body you will not lose muscle. Incredibly you can actually gain muscle while fasting. Your body will prioritize things like building muscle when you are fasting over other things because its trying to make sure you are as strong as possible so that you don't starve to death once the fat reserves run out.

Yes. You keep fasting until you die because fasting has tremendous health benefits aside from fat loss. Fasting will help you live longer, be healthier, and look younger.

Think of it this way. When we go to the gym to work out we are essentially causing micro-tears in our muscles. Our body after it senses these tears will rebuild the muscle but this time it'll make the muscle STRONGER so that it doesn't tear quite as easily the next time. When we fast we are basically giving the SURVIVAL MECHANISMS of our body a workout. When your body senses that it isn't getting anymore food it will go into survival mode. It will peak all your senses so that you can be at your optimal level to find food. A lot of people claim that when fasting their mental aptitude actually increases. Also as I stated earlier when you're fasting your body will clear out any cells from your body that are subpar replacing them with newer healthy cells. This in addition to an increase in stem cells and growth hormone will keep you looking younger longer.

By stressing your body's survival mechanisms you make them stronger. Just like how stressing out your muscles in the gym with heavy weights will make them stronger. No medicine created by man can give you the benefits fasting can. God gave us everything we needed to live wonderfully long healthy lives with fasting. Its the greatest gift we have as humans and unfortunately most of us never utilize it.

Its possible. Take public transit, buy frozen vegetables and lean meats and eat fibre from apples, cereal with limited sugar, and vegetables like brocolli. Eat whatever you want once a week.

Walking and jogging will go a long way in helping you lose weight and feel better.

Live like how humans lived for thousands of years. Walking, running and eating vegetables, grains and lean meats with little processing

Meal Prep. Meal Prep. Meal Prep..

If you don't get that shyt down then you won't get anyway regardless of how much you exercise.

With that out if the way, I'll say you can get a good workout even with a 9-5. It's best if you had a home gym because it saves time. If you don't have space get some dumbbells or just join a gym. You can get a good workout 45 minutes a day easy. 15 minutes of HIIT and 30 minutes of weight lifting

Possible, but that's gonna take a lot of work.

And why 165?

I went from 263 to about 213. That actually want that hard. But I was stuck there for while, so I just started hitting weights hard.

Got to about 220 and was actually smaller than I was at 213.

I fukking got complacent tho...
