Teach in a blue state.
Boston pays an average of $100k a year for teachers. $60k+ starting salary. 3% raise a year is almost guaranteed because of the strong teachers union. Hit $120k easily on the salary scale easily after professional development. Top out at $160k if you’re really motivated with professional development. Do a few clubs and coach a few sports (this part is competitive) and next thing you know you’re up there in the near $200k range.
Work 9 months out of the year. That’s it. 70 days off during the summer. Every major holiday off.
After busting your ass for 3 years you get tenured. Which means you’re not getting fired unless you really really really fukk up.
After the 3 years you’re on cruise control. Recycle learning content. Have everything electronically graded. Retire at 56 with 80% pension. Now you’re getting 6 figures for the rest of your life.
Boston isn’t even the highest paying district in Massachusetts either. You could also teach in one of the suburbs where the average salary is around $80k.
For those that don’t believe me:
Here are the 100 Massachusetts school districts that pay the highest
those numbers are from 2018 too. So they’ve gone up since. I have multiple cousins who teach in Boston and one that just retired.
