If you look at the games that actually put players on it up until that point, they were all safe. Bo Jackson, Terrell Davis, eddy George and Florida state's QB are the only players I remember being on covers before Nfl2k came out.

Genius marketing putting the biggest stars in the sport on the cover. Before 2K safe guys like AC Green and Jon Kitna used to get all the covers right?

I have to admit that Madden 15 on PS4 has finally matched 2K5, but nothing will ever touch the 2K5 soundtrack except maybe Madden 04.

It's probably one of the most underrated marketing ideas of all time.
2K went against the grain during a time when it was all about getting the cookie cutter clean safe negro athlete(RG3).
Putting the two lovable bad boys who was both urban and pop icons of that time. Ended up being a genius idea for a company just breaking into the industry.
That NBA2K tho.
