Roach would have to unify 135 to be in the same sentence.

Yes Canelo lost to "the man" NOW, but at the time it was a cherry pick. If he was always "the man" he wouldn't have been the underdog even while being in a heavier weight class.

He also wouldn't have almost drawer with Nelo, although handing him a thorough ass whipping.

Bivol hadn't unified Jack shyt when he whipped Canelo. So yes it's similar.

Wrong. Don’t put sucker shyt on the fans. The fans are constantly being manipulated in ALL sports. Cherry pick is relative to a fighter’s intentions BEFORE the fact. The fact that everyone is saying Roach is better than we thought is bullshyt. Most people had him getting knocked tf out. Tank vs roach is completely different than canelo vs bivol. Roach was the one moving up to fight a champion. Same as canelo. Any hardcore boxing fan knew that bivol vs canelo fight was gonna be close as hell. Anybody who thought that was gonna be an easy night for canelo don't know shyt about boxing.

And yes. A lot of the "sucker shyt" going on today is 100% because of the fans. Same type of fans who were calling bud vs madrimov a cherry pick. It's why bud didn't pay any attention to the talk of him ducking boots. He seen through the years how the casuals ran with the story of him being scared of Spence. Corny shyt like that is why a lot of fighters chase the payday. And I don't blame em. If social media exposed one thing, it's that boxing fans might be the woat of all the sports. Most of these fans are still calling Haney a bytch for suing ryan

Canelo had a whole lawsuit against him because he was cherry picking. Paulie Malinagi, Roy Jones, Antonio Tarver all called him out for cherry picking against Bivol, but somehow its casual fans making accusations.

Canelo does have a standard for himself he had to hold up to, because he is Canelo. Eddie Hearn and Bivol both said that Bivol last fight was bad and that was why he was chose.

Yes there are levels to cherry picking. Canelo is more accomplished and has created a higher standard to love to than Tank, but he's still cherry picking. Gah dang.

The term cherry picking is wild subjective. My definition is when someone feels that a reward is much greater than the risk. The question isn’t whether or not we knew the fight would be close but what were Canelo’s chances of winning? I believe Oscar did the same with Sturm. You have to add the fact of the odds of Bivol winning by decision. The cards went Oscar’s way but most thought Sturm won. It didn’t go Canelo’s way, that doesn’t mean him or his team didn’t think it would especially him getting the benefit of the doubt in a close fight.

Me personally I am not calling it that but in many minds a cherry picking can simply mean that there are fights that can be made with bigger names and tougher opponents. Roach for sure was a cherry pick because Tank always saying such and such ain’t done shyt yet yielding to Roach who has accomplished a lot less.
