Some people are too simple-minded to realize that the long term financial and economy impact that the corona virus will have more than outweighs that $1200 check that they are happy and excited to get.

I’d rather have the economy opened ASAP rather than the check.

I’m sure majority of people would rather the economy be re-opened but that’s not feasible right now and you should know that.

A $1200 check isn’t going to do anything really, but re-opening the economy can be wayyy more harmful.

I agree. The lockdown should end in May then the economy should be reopened. The economy crashing is worse than the coronavirus.

A more terrible idea is believing this many people being unemployed at once won't create type of desperation that motivates people to victimize their neighbors or people ill equipped to defend themselves. You won't have the luxury of helping anyone if you can't discern whether they're at your door to seek help or inflict harm.

During the Depression the social safety net was far worse and people remained unemployed for far longer, yet home invasion murders hardly happened at all. In fact, crime in the USA hasn't generally tracked with hard times at all.

Do hard times spark more crime?

I've grown up my entire life around guns and I am quite proficient, I also read self-defense lit extensively on both sides. An untrained family having a gun in their homes is far more likely to cause a death in the family than it is to save a life in the family. Especially in a time like this when suicides will be a far more common occurrence than home invasion murders.

:unimpressed:You are making my point. Ill post those numbers again, comparing similar respiratory viruses, during the same time frame.

Hopefully it'll sink in, or you can get somebody to explain the numbers to you
So you are saying we should let it rock, but you keep trying to check my intelligence. I got no beef with you, but you fukking suck at discourse.

The economy completely crashing with everything being shut down would be wayyyyy more harmful and put millions of people out of a job more than it already is now. At some point, you will have to reopen things and that should be within the next month or two.

The politicians know it even if they won’t admit it. It’s just not feasible to shut the whole economy down long term. Even state governors and city mayors know it, but they are more concerned with using this situation for political gain and aspirations.

I know in New York state you have to be at a job for 6 months to get it.
The bill expands unemployment eligibility. Gig economy workers, freelancers, contractors, self-employed, etc. are all eligible now. I wouldn't be surprised if eligibility was expanded in other ways as well.

Plus, as low as unemployment has been recently the # of workers who would have joined in the last six months would be lower than usual.

:dahell:

Telling people in FAMILIES who don't have guns to buy them for self-defense at a time when they can't even get training is a horrible fukking idea. Especially at a time when temptation for suicide is up. Far far more likely that someone in the family would hurt themselves in an accident, use the gun to off themselves, escalate a situation that wasn't going to be fatal, or hurt an innocent person just looking for help than they are to actually successfully defend their life with a brand new gun.

but sadly this will happen. people will tool up.

At this point you have to be an agent trolling. You literally replaced my shyt sonning you with your own post.

The first coronavirus death in the USA was in March, not 2019. 3/4 of the 1000+ coronavirus deaths so far have come in the last 4 days and it is increasing exponentially. Anyone who is not a fukking idiot can see what is happening in Spain and Italy and project how that could look for us.

This is right in line with your usual posting. You are either an agent, a troll, or a tool of them.
