With that logic we should do away with all jobs and outsource everything :manny:

That's what we're doing right now though...

And as DEAD7 said, they should unionize. Problem is they get shytted on for wanting to join a union. To be told that you don't need a union, and that you will be fired if you do so. And the average consumer doesn't want them to (and themselves don't want to for fear of losing their jobs).

This is really about the cost of living

Shouldnt owners have the ability to set whatever price they feel like they deserve? Isn't that letting the market fix itself?

It just shows the problems with a free market, greedy people can't be left in charge of what someone should be earning and paying because they have an inability to see past current profits.

These are the same people that gutted wages while rising the cost of everything, then wonder why people can't afford cable these days. And their only solution create monopolies so people have no choice but to do business with them.

These people aren't even spending the money, it's being hoarded at a rediculous rate. Money owned by the wealthy is basically money permanently removed from the market.

Care to give an actual response?

You can't talk about the cost of living while caping for complete deregulation.

you claim the government shouldn't be able to dictate wages, so why should they be allowed to tell someone what they can charge for housing and product?

But you said the problem is with the cost of living not minimum wage. You said there are better solutions than fixing minimum wage. So how do you address the cost of living which you admit is the real problem? You don't believe in regulations so what should be done to kick start the economy and get the wealthy to start reinvesting those stacks of cash back into the economy.

You like to talk about your libertarian views but anytime your asked for detail of how it would work, you post a gif or smilie to dodge the questions.

The cost of living today is artificially inflated in no small part by the state.
Food, rent controls, zoning laws, medical care, schooling are all touched by the state. Too even suggest that the high cost of living is a failure of the "free market" is absurd.
Many of these regulations and subsidies(ag and what not) do in my opinion more harm than good.

A better solution in my opinion would be a negative income tax(basic income) and a removal of nearly all labor regulations.

So deregulation with some socialist ideas for the people that get left out? Most likely paid for by taxing the remaining labor force.

Your talking about basically handing the keys to the elite and letting the government regulate welfare expansion.

Isn't socialism the opposite of libertarian views?

The pendulum isnt(and shouldnt) going to swing completely either way in America. I think a basic income beneath a freer market is the best compromise.

And I believe the responsibility should be on the employers to pay people a livable wage, and not the responsibility of the actual workers.

It shouldn't fall on the middle class tax payers to compensate low wage earners when their employers can afford to pay more.

Tax paying citizens shouldn't be forced to pay a basic income just to allow more freedom for companies to keep hoarding money.

Socialist :hula:libertarian

Small government :hula:big government

Socialism clashes with your almost non existing regulations ideas.
