My homie at 39 decided to join the reserves. Dude is in phenomenal health, he's just in a transition period in his life and something like the military can help with that.

I'm all for this. There really shouldn't be a "young" age limit on the military. I can see and know people up to 55 being value added being in the military. You don't always have to be an infantryman. Bringing civilian skills to the military can also be a benefit, so why not...

Personally, I regret not joining the military.

Good for them honestly.

It’s productive to realize you got nothing going and to build a respectable foundation of some sort before it’s too late.

School is obviously the best move, but it’s also not nearly as financially cheap as signing your name on a piece of paper and committing. Then you can finish on the G.I Bill later. Degree and Military service opens doors not available to ordinary people.

You can still get a degree later in life well into your 50’s, but there’s a time limit on serving in the Military where that window closes, which is something to consider.
