I've thought about joining the Air Force, they are the only branch that allows SpecOps selection after 35. Probably won't happen, but the decision has nothing to do with finances. Would be losing money in the short and longterm to go after it.

Tiger Woods thought about joining at one point. Quite a few guys from finance and law join up to test themselves.

Has never been uncommon. Guys want to experience a call to action and an esprit de corp that's difficult to find outside of sports, military, etc.

Former CIA officer Desmond FitzGerald, for example:
"At the outbreak of World War II Fitzgerald was "a 31-year-old attorney with a wife and a child" yet he enlisted as a private in the Army."

I thought after a certain age u couldn’t join
I think the marines is 30

The other branches you can join up to 40(ish).

I would never enlist in my 30s or 40s unless I had no options at all. Imagine you being a grown ass man with life experience and some MFer
born when GRODT came out is bossing you around :damn:

You in the same ranks with cats born during "lean with it rock it" era :francis:

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
I'm talking to a woman now who just enlisted in March, goes off to basic on the 5th. She'll be 32 in June...

If I could've joined, I probably would have done one enlistment in my early to mid 20s. But I been a felon since I was 16, it was never in the cards, and I wouldn't have done more than one enlistment anyway...

Not a fan of the white man's military, for one thing there are plenty of jobs you make more in raw income than military people. But more power to people who make the best decision for themselves!

You're a part of something bigger than yourself.

You also tend to get respect if you're of a certain ago.

Military service is actually pretty crazy if you really can commit and go far enough. There are doors, rooms and information that no influencer, celebrity or even U.S President can touch that Military folks see and act on. That’s power for real.

You do five years in then out, that’s great and you’re already in better shape/have a better foundation than the mass majority of the population. You do a completely thorough job though: finish school with a technical degree, keep a clean record, play the game/politics, etc. and you’re going to be a rare breed.
