not at all.

Jay-Z the rapper is different from Shawn Carter the business man.

The same way Apple Music gave chance $500k and a commercial to make his album an Apple Exclusive. Im sure Tidal and Sprint made a deal with Jay-Z (the artist), that in order for his album to be a Tidal + Sprint exclusive for streaming only they have to buy a million copies.

sounds like good business. :yeshrug:
who would turn that down? :manny:

The 718
The RIAA formally issued the certification, which confirms 1 million in US units. Album units are equal to 1 album sale, 10 track sales or 1500 track streams.
The music industry owes a truckload of money to Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services. Saved the whole ship. It took them embarrassingly long to adapt to the internet. Now they're actually seeing financial growth again.

JAY-Z tries to invigorate his musical career by connecting with himself for other people's sake. In total, it sounds like what it is, a business leader for whom the personal proves troublingly difficult to connect with.

they gave lil Yachty a 60 by the way

dis is the problem with metacritic

one wild review can tarnish a score

Jay's always had a hard on for platinum in a week lol. He always wanted to be on that list with 50, Em, and Wayne.

I ain't mad at his business model and his sales are great no matter what method he goes about it but I'll never put him on the 1,000,000 mil records sold in a week list with the aforementioned artists

I don't think u a hater or nothing

But why do everyone try to get in Jay head? What rapper would not want to sell 1 million in a week?

What would indicate he wanted to be mentioned with them?

His mention of it in the "A Star is Born" song (he also mentioned Em/Nelly sales in "Excuse Me Miss") and I'm pretty sure he tweeted happily when MCHG was certified platinum and used the new rules hashtag which is what some people are using in here.

Heck I even think he mentioned Kanye going plat in a week when he and Kanye were close even though Kanye never technically did.

It's just one of those things that he seemed to gradually always mention about and you just feel as a hip hop heavyweight himself it's one of the things he wants to acclaim: that he went platinum in a week.

And again, how he's approached his last two albums business wise I'm all for, but I still won't count it as going platinum in a week the same way I don't count Drake's Views going platinum in a week like some do cuz they try to add in streams now to inflate the numbers.
