And that's the actual problem you have. Because plenty of people are on the ground doing the work and working with the people. It's just not publicized. They don't televise every march or rally or drive against black on black crime.

It's not a large enough nor effective movement though. There needs to be a collective response across the nation. A large scale awakening. At this point it's mostly sticking a finger in leaky holes of a dam. You can point out this rally and that community response but it's not enough. The other problem is that its largely reactive instead of proactive. Its defense and not offense. Its going to be the same 100 years from now unless something major happens. You look at the 60s and 70s and there was an attempt at a national consciousness before those leaders were either killed or imprisoned. At the least there was a large sense of self pride back then. It is much the opposite today. The way too many Black men and women view one another, the way too many young Black men view one another. There's a sickness amongst us. There needs to be large scale reset.

Violence, murders and shootings are out of control in our community. Thats true. I think its crucial to bring up that when Black person A kills Black person B, Black person A will be caught, arrested, and jailed. The furor over police involves hundreds of years of harassment and brutality that goes unpunished and unchecked. We have the right as tax payers to hold people that are supposedly peace officers that WE pay accountable.

Now for the black violence thing, you will never see the other side of the coin when it comes to it. The brother that was murdered in NYC washing his car last week was a thread on here. I didnt realize that was a friend of a friend. They held a rally for him yesterday with hundreds of ppl. It was not publicized. People care breh. Its just not something that is portrayed by the powers that be.

Homeboy was in a gang and musta got caught up in something..that was a targeted hit for someone who was in the "mix"...its a good chance he might have done some damage to someone else's child which is why the frisbee spent back his way

Fam, homicide in the 1970s was much worse than today. Yeah I agree with you there was an attempt at consciousness. The Black Panthers and other inner city groups could probably have made a big difference but we know what happened to them. I honestly think part of the reason the inner city is the way it is is in reaction to us trying to organize. We try to organize they panic. They are fine with us killing each other and dying of dope though.

Also gangsta rap started at the peak of crime around 1992. It has basically dropped since then. There is no causation but if you plotted the album sales of hip hop versus the homicide rate you would basically have a negative correlation from 1992 to 2010 when crime started going back up.

Gangs feed off of community disorder or lack of structure. They provide mentoring, promotion, respect, money, etc. where people can't get it anywhere else. We find a way to plug that hole we win half the battle.

I never said homie was a angel. The discussion was whether or not ppl care about black violence within the community. Like the poster wanted to know where was the outrage when a blk man kills another blk man.
