QBs across different eras brehs. And lol at you scoffing at his 100plus qb ratings in two playoffs saying thats being a game manager. Troy had the most wins of any Qb in the 90s and won 3 Super Bowls. In his 5 best seasons 1991-1995 l, he ranked:
91: 6th in passer rating (above moon and marino)

92: 3rd in passer rating (above favre marino)

93: 2nd in passer rating (above elway montana)

94: 5th in passer rating (above kelly and montana)

95: 3rd in passer rating (above young and marino)

Thats 5 seasons in a row in which he was ranked higher than at least 2 hof qbs and was ranked in the top 10. So wtf are you talking about breh. Add on his playoff perfomances especially in 92 and you have a HoF QB. On top of that he was clutch and played his best in big games.

:jerryumad:
You're cherry picking 5 years out of his career and ignoring the rest

PASSER RATING :russ:

Did you know Tony Romo (another overrated Cowboys QB) is #2 all time in passer rating! :mjlol:
Maybe we can put his bust right next to Troy's! :beli:
Troy is 49th all time in NFL passer rating behind Jason Campbell. Also behind Neil O'Donnell who is from his era.

Why would you even bring up pass rating :(

So what other metric should be used to measure how well a QB is performing dikkhead. Once again you cant compare QBs passer rating across eras because the rules were different back then as well as how the game was played. Campbell, Odonnel and whatever bum you want to compare to the gawd Troy never ranked in the top 6 in passer rating 5 years in a row.

1992 Troy Aikman:

63.8% completion percentage. (5th)
3,445 yards (4th)
23 TD/14 INT (3rd in TD)

Emmitt Smith ran for 1,713 yards and the defense ranked 5th overall. Aikman upped his completion percentage to 68.5% in the playoffs, averaging 265 yards a game. Eight TD and 0 INT. Outstanding.

1993 Troy Aikman:

69.1% competion percentage. (1st)
3,100 yards (10th)
15 TD/6 INT (12th in TD)

Emmit Smith ran for 1,486 yards and the defense ranked 2nd in the league. Aikman upped his completion percentage to 74.4% in the playoffs, averaging 228 yards a game. Five TD with 3 INTs. More of a game manager than anything. He dinked and dunked the ball to Novacek and Johnston 12 times in his game against Green Bay and was super conservative against the 49ers (attempting only 18 passes) and again in the Super Bowl. Good. But not exactly HOF-worthy.

1995 Troy Aikman:

64.8% completion percentage. (2nd)
3,304 yards (13th)
16 TD/7 INT (20th in TD)

Emmitt Smith ran for 1,773 yards and the defense ranked 3rd in the league. Aikman upped his completion percentage to 66.3% in the playoffs, averaging 239 yards a game. Four TD and 1 INT. His only real performance (255 yards against Green Bay) came in a game where Emmitt Smith rant he ball 35 times for 150 yards and 3 TD. The other 2 games he was a game manager. That Super Bowl against Pittsburgh he went 15-23 for 209 yards.

And this is just the 3 seasons he won the Super Bowl in.
The rest of his career is worse.
If you want to judge Troy's entire career based on 3 years, you're a fool.

Troy Aikman is 32nd in Passing Yards.
Troy Aikman is 65th in Passing Touchdowns.
Troy Aikman is 49th in Passer Rating.
Troy Aikman is 25th in Completion Percentage, just behind Jeff Garcia.

His career Similar Players are as follows: Carson Palmer, Mark Brunnel, Matt Hasselbeck, Steve McNair, Eli Manning and Ken Stabler.

He never won a league MVP.
Nobody is saying Troy Aikman sucked, but Hall of Fame?

Maybe your definition of what qualifies as Hall of Fame-worthy is different from mine.
But at no point in his career was he even close to being the best QB in the league. Brett Favre, John Elway, Steve Young, and Dan Marino would have done the same or better than Aikman did with those Cowboys teams.

Troy was consider ed one of the best qbs in the league during his day. It was a different time....passing was passing back then, running was running. Nowadays a pass for some teams is a run play.

He's one of most efficient passers I've ever seen. And there's s reason why every offensive coach from that team went on to be head coaches themselves.

I don't know why y'all like to go back and downgrade players based on how today's game is played.

Teams back then had identities.
Marino passed alot. Jeff George passed alot. Moon passed alot. But that wasn't the norm like it is today.

Troy Aikman was a really good quarterback. But there are ways to adjust for context. And when doing so, his true performance doesn't match what we perceive him to have been just because he was on SB winning teams.

That's why we have the numbers - to bring us down to reality.

There's no shame in a man's career just because he's not a Hall of Famer.

Now Troy IS a hall of famer. But I would have no problem if he wasn't elected.

Sorry, but anyone who was alive and old enough to watch football and understand what you were watching, has NO qualms with Aikman being a HOFr. First ballot no less.

You had to be there.

:dahell:

I'm 35 and remember quite well what Aikman did in his career.
Aikman is in the HOF.
Fine.

I'm not campaigning to remove him.
But if he never got elected, I wouldn't think that it was a great injustice.
