If you're a teenager with no income, if you make $20 a week at a job, it's $20 you didn't have and $20 dollars that can potentially make things in the household run a little more smoothly, an extra gallon of milk, dish washing liquid or detergent, in these communities, every dollar counts, and making minimum wage certainly helps, but impoverished Black people in low income communities still want to look nice and feel good about themselves, which requires money for status items that they can't afford even if they have the cash in hand to pay for these items.

when you control the settings and the conditions of/for a people you can get them to do pretty much anything you want. this is a residual effect of being under these people(it's both mental and physical). the guns that got flooded in our neighborhoods is an example. crack is another. now mix that with all the other unmentioned shyt. we know a pale hand created that atmosphere. this shyt is by design. of course people should still face severe punishment for shyt like this. but I think that punishment should be served out by members of said community. on some village type shyt.

this is why there's such a disconnect, Black people who have never had to live in these types of circumstances are too dismissive of what's really going on, "it's ignorance", "they know right from wrong" and whatever else they can think of from their high horses.

Just two weeks ago I had to sit a 15 year old down and explain to him why kicking in doors is wrong, that shyt was so frustrating that I wanted to cry because in spite of me making valid points about why it's wrong, when he needs money and his homies proposition him to go kick a door, he's going to do it.
