No its not moronic because SA, MIA, and LAL all got their star players(Wade, Kobe, Duncan) to build around in the draft lottery :heh:

Who said anything about not building through the draft? Almost every player in the league was drafted at some point. Obviously the draft is critical. I'm simply saying that the best teams build incrementally through smart draft choices (don't need to be lottery cause Parker and Ginobili weren't), free agency, and trades.

There has never been a champion that built itself through 2 drafts after intentionally gutting the team to acquire first and second round picks. This is shyt you see in video games. The fact you nikkas is defending this is laughable to me.

This dude is focusing only on the Sixers for some reason, as though the Celtics, Jazz and Magic aren't doing the same damn thing :mindblown:

none of those teams intentionally traded all their players for 2nd round draft picks and replaced them with NBDL quality players to intentionally lose.

the closest thing to what Philly is doing was tried by Phoenix actually when they gave their starting center away.

The Jazz since Burke came back have been competitive and have loads of young talented players all playing. Celtics didn't give Rondo away for peanuts and have good vets like Green, Bass, and Wallace playing. The Magic also didn't trade Affalalo for peanuts to lose intentionally.

THERE IS A DIFFERNCE BETWEEN BUILDING THROUGH THE DRAFT AND WHAT PHILLY IS DOING.

Philly is basically being run by some cac who never played a competitive sport in his life. He think he can run a team like a video game by trading away all their best players for 2nd round picks and thinking that intentionally losing this year will lead to a contender.

Lmao Sam Hinkie never said they will be contenders in two years. He said it is a three year maybe four year plan which is why Brett Brown contract is three years. Shyt we might not even make the playoffs next year but we may because the east is horrible. This tanking is all about building the right pieces and hopefully become an attractive place to play.

fukk tanking, root for your team to be in NBA purgatory/limbo 8th/9th seeds every year with no good picks brehs :troll:

Lets see how many times Philly has tanked in the last 15yrs brehs by looking at our record history:troll:

The AI Era

1999-2000: 49-33- Lost in Semifinals to Indiana
2000-2001: 56-26- Lost in NBA Finals to LA
2001-2002: 43-39- Lost in 1st Round to Boston
2002-2003: 48-34- Lost in Seminfinals to Detroit
2003-2004: 33-49- Iverson injured all season played less than 30 games
2004-2005: 43-39- Lost in the 1st Round to Detroit
2005-2006: 38-44- Just missed Playoffs as 9th seed

*Iverson is traded*

The Elton Brand/ Iggy Era- We signed Iggy and Brand to 80 million dollar contracts and traded for Andre Milller

2006-2007: 35-47- Just missed Playoffs as 9th seed
2007-2008: 40-42- Lost in 1st Round to Detroit
2008-2009: 41-41- Lost in 1st Round to Orlando

The Jrue Holiday/Evan Turner Era: Drafted Holiday in 2009 and Turner in 2010

2009-2010: 27-55- Our Worst Season in the last 15 years and we were not tanking

2010-2011: 41-41- Lost in 1st Round to Miami
2011-2012: 35-31- Lost in the Semifinals to Boston

*Sixers trade for Andrew Bynum, you know the rest*

2012-2013: 34-48- Missed Playoffs as 9th seed

Sixers clearly attempted to compete the last 15 years and now the one year we rebuild and it's
rdIsTE2.gif
:mindblown: Yeah we were really goin somewhere getting the 8th and 9th seed every year :deadmanny:

Again, what exactly were they supposed to do, pay Turner and Hawes? They weren't winning anything with Holiday, Young, Turner and Hawes, so where is this winning culture going to come from when the players in question weren't good enough to win in the first place :smh:

Word, you're trying to use the Pacers as your example?

Here's their record before drafting George -
35-47
36-46
35-47
36-46
36-46
32-50

Where was the winning culture you're talking about? They were a middle of the road team that refused to tank and wasted 6 seasons before they finally got Paul George, and they really lucked into that considering he fell to 10th. So your example of building a winning culture are the Pacers, a team that had a combined record of 210-282 over a 6 year period, nice breh. For the last time, what were the Sixers supposed to do when nobody was willing to give up assets for the players they had? They got a nice return on Holiday, and got what they could for Hawes and Turner :smh:

You're just arguing a retarded point right now, the best teams in the league with the exception of the Heat were built through the draft or acquiring assets to flip later for stars, the Clippers and Rockets don't get Cp3 or Harden without the draft picks or young players they gave up. The Cavs have years to figure out what they want to do with the young players they drafted, and they are ONLY 4 years removed from losing the best player in the league, yeah that's easy to recover from :russ:

You gonna look like such a clown if the Sixers end up with a top 3 pick and another top 10 pick, then turn some of those 2nd rounders into late firsts. Why are you hating on the Sixers too, as though they are the only young team tanking?

:dahell: Didn't Cleveland have 4 top 4 picks in 3 seasons? Doesn't Charlotte pick in the top 5 every year? Didn't the Clippers have a run last decade where they were perennially at the top of the lottery?

Having high first round picks doesn't necessarily mean you'll become better. There could always be better players later in the draft. You cite Paul George being had at pick 10, but you gotta remember even 10 was considered a reach for him. The draft is a crap shoot. Everyone knows this. No one ever really knows who'll be great and who won't. The idea to intentionally lose now because you'll turn into a contender through 2 drafts is stupid and as I stated never been done.

its far more likely they blow most of those picks than hit on all or most of them. Charlotte, Sacremento, Cleveland, etc. have the last 3-4 years in the lottery and have pretty much nothing to show for it. Its VERY RARE for teams that spend 3-4 years in the lottery to hit on all those picks and build a contender. OKC is like the outlier. Charlotte and Cleveland are more of the model.

The reason Charlotte and Cleveland have spent the last few years in the lottery is due to ineptitude in the front office. These are my Bobcats who drafted Adam Morrison over players like Rudy Gay and Brandon Roy. These are the same Bobcats who drafted Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, a wing who can't shoot, when their most important needs were interior presence on both ends of the floor and shooting. These are the same Bobcats who hired a coach last year who though he could run a zone for a better part of an NBA game and expect to win.

OKC isn't an outlier in the regards to spending time in the lottery, they are an outlier when it comes to competence in the front office.

Didn't the Celtics trade away KG and Pierce for nothing but picks really? They were also on the verge of trading Rondo but couldn't find anyone that wanted to give up two firsts, had they found a taker they'd have Pressey starting at the 1 right now :russ: Also, those "good" vets in Boston outside of Rondo are awful and haven't contributed to winning, they are bad as it is.

Afflalo is locked up for 2 more years, of course they aren't going to trade him with Nelson coming off the books. The Magic are losing with young players and vets, where is the winning culture going to come from?

You don't seem to understand the difference between the Sixers and these teams, for the last time, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes were due for extensions this summer, both want to get paid. Your essentially arguing that they should have kept both and paid them. Do you think the Celtics would keep Wallace and Bass if both were due for extensions? fukk no and be clear that they can't find anyone dumb enough to take Wallace deal off their hands.

Oh, so you're going to conveniently leave out that you have been saying Embiid, Wiggins and Exum will be stars? If they get the top pick, or even the 2nd pick they are guaranteed a shot at one of those 3 players, even if Embiid doesn't come out.

The Clippers being awful and stacking lottery picks is exactly why they got CP3, lets leave out the stock piling of assets brehs.

Sam Hinkie ain't Chris Grant. Besides Kyrie, pretty much all of their high draft picks (Tristan, Dion, Bennett) were looked at like :dahell:. They were seen as awful picks at the time and they've turned out that same way.

and what makes you believe Philly's front office is competent?

your right that OKC is the outlier cause they have a competent front office. it just so happens that they and like 5 other teams know what they are doing. the rest of the league is run by idiots with the clown in Philly being at the top of the list.

ANd you gotta stop saying this like it means something.

Michael Jordan, Isiah Thomas, Elgin Baylor, all awful GMs.

Sam Presti, RC Buford, Daryl Morey: great GMs who never played an NBA game.

You nikkas are clowns. When/if they pick the wrong players, you gonna laugh at them.

There are ways to build a team and the best way is certainly not when there are not any true star players in the year you draft. Parker would probably be the best fit there, but outside him, Wiggins and Embid ain't gonna do sh*t on that squad.
Randie would be a good look too.

Sam Hinkie traded Jrue Holiday essentially for 3 lottery Picks: MCW, Nerlens Noel and a possible top 10 lottery pick in 2014 :deadmanny:
