NYC has dirty subway's and buses that aren't cleaned on a regular basis. A few weeks ago before it got terribad, MTA was bragging that they clean the subways once every 2-days. Most of these subway trains are jam packed full of people. NYC residents are probably the highest per capita residents who rely on public transportation compared to other American cities. That's probably why NYC got hit harder than places like LA.
New York's subway is way, way dirtier than you think

EDIT:

:picard:

yup
not surprising london is getting hit as well, both london and nyc rely on transit than most cities

I was riding the subway in NY a few years back, and I was appalled at the amount of people eating food with their bare hands.
:scusthov:

Not saying people in other cities don't do this, but it seemed to be a lot more routine there. Spanish lady eating pieces of fruit, Black girl eating chips, White dude grabbing Cheerios out a sandwich bag and feeding it to his toddler.

Poor planning by Cuomo and De Blasio. The Mayor and his cabinet downplayed it, told people to go out:

The health director was in Chinatown celebrating the Lunar New Year and he got the virus shortly after. People want to praise Cuomo for his handling of it because the media is centered in NYC, yet we account for the majority of deaths in the country. I can go on and on, but BdB and Cuomo were Rs, there would be calls for them to step down.

Cuomo, who runs the MTA, rolled back service instead of keeping it at a normal schedule. The trains are still packed because of it allowing the virus to travel from person to person.

It's been one big fukk up from Albany to City Hall.

They rolled back service because they don't have the personal to run daily service

I wonder if any Jews have caught the virus at all. They're just chilling
If it wasn't for the Jews in New Rochelle catching it by the dozens, it wouldn't have ravaged that area so crazy, and New Rochelle is only a couple of miles from the Bronx.

Strange. The person from Stanford they quote is from the Hoover Institute which is a conservative political and social policy think tank, not a team of epidemologists or virologists. If they get something published in a peer reviewed journal it should be interesting but think tanks usually don't do that; they publish their own reports with PR fanfare. I side eye this study a bit since "herd immunity" is a big call in some conservative circles as a better way to deal with COVID without shutting things down.

Also, partial herd immunity is an oxymoron. The population has herd immunity or it doesn't. If it doesn't the transmission can still blow up into an epidemic and will likely do so, just slower and with a lower peak, so Cali would hit NY numbers later. Finally, they have a lot of viruses genomes sequenced from all over. If Cali had a transmission from last year, the isolates from California patients should be a dead giveaway.

the 5 boroughs are 1 city just like oakland and vallejo are apart of the bay

you live in new york or you live in the bay, imaginary city lines dont mean shyt when talking about real shyt here.. you can drive from Oakland to San Francisco in 10 minutes, imaginary lines and specific wording doesnt protect someone against COVID19, population density is population density rather someone wants to argue semantics over what counts or not, end of day bay area and LA are more densely populated, and thats that :manny:

its just worded different but end of day it means nothing because people family might live in queens while you live in the bronx no different then someone might live in san francisco and their family lives in richmond, wording and imaginary city limit lines on a map designed long before either of us were born doesnt matter in real life

its all the same
the only difference in terms of NYC is that the boroughs are their own county if that matters.

BX, NYC
how many people live within a certain amount of mile radius is considered more dense in California, specifically Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose areas.

there is your rational and non confrontational argument. happy now ?
NYC is a city. If you want you can compare the Bay to the NYC Metro which means we adding cities like Newark, Jersey City, New Haven, Yonkers to the mix...

Manhattan alone pre-virus would have over 4 million people during the daytime while the population is only 1.5 million at night. So that's 2.5 million people going back to other boroughs, Jersey, Connecticut, Upstate New York and the Poconos.

All you needed was one person who had it coming into work for it to spread over the whole metro area.

Fam, what are you talking about? A borough is literally just a region of a city :deadrose:.

nikkas were talking LA and San Fran versus New York City. But even if you expand past that, the state of California isn't even a top 10 most densely populated state. New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the US, followed by a bunch of east coast states.

Your articles are literally considering the entire area within the New York City metropolitan area which includes New Jersey and Connecticut commuters. You are literally adding whole states :deadrose: And you don't realize how ridiculous your boroughs argument is - it works the other way. If New York City is made up of 5 huge boroughs and is still the most densely populated city, what does that say about how many people are fitting into a small place?

Los Angeles isn't even top 10.

  1. New York, N.Y.: 27,012.4
  2. San Francisco, Calif.: 17,179.2
  3. Jersey City, N.J.: 16,736.6
  4. Boston, Mass.: 12,792.7
  5. Santa Ana, Calif.: 11,900.8
  6. Chicago, Ill.: 11,841.8
  7. Newark, N.J.: 11,458.3
  8. Philadelphia, Pa.: 11,379.5
  9. Miami, Fla.: 11,135.9
  10. Hialeah, Fla.: 10,474.2

Los Angeles isn't even in the top 20 most densely populated places in California letting alone compared to fukking East Coast cities :deadrose:

I swear internet nikkas will argue about ANYTHING. :dead:

NYC been the most densely populated city in the US my whole life. LA been known for its sprawl and corresponding traffic. And breh is in here really tryna argue that it’s more densely populated than NYC. :deadmanny:
