Regal :to:

To this day his tribute is just haunting as you could tell he had been informed and was trying not to go in on him.

There were three tributes that really stood out that night. Edge because it put the wrestling business into perspective ("I have three people that I can talk to in this business...and two of them are gone now."), Punk because you could see how much that he looked up to Benoit, and of course, Regal's because I think that's when it started to seep through that he did it.

That whole day was eerie as well. Supposedly, the RAW entrance ramp was decked out with caskets and all sort of death related things for Vince's funeral before the news of Benoit and his family's death broke.

What I found the most haunting was that diary that Chris kept that was featured in that CNN special. Writing to Eddie, talking about dreams he would have of his family trying to get away because everyone around them were dying. :wow:

Imo in the aftermath Vince really dropped the ball with CM Punk.

WWE was getting killed by msm some even wanted congressional hearings at that time. If I was Vince I would've pushed the straight edge guy. And it wasn't a storyline that he was straight edge so the msm would back off but Vince being Vince thought being straight edge is a negative.

I've been listening to the Jericho's podcast with Nancy's sister, and there were some interesting things that I didn't know about Benoit.

His favorite dessert was cheese cake.
He enjoyed going to Disney World.
He was a fan of Eminem.

Those are three things that I wouldn't think Chris Benoit would like.

But yeah, this has been an interesting episode to listen to. He apparently brutalized Nancy before strangling her. :to: He also Googled how to break your neck. :damn:

Yikes.

Came home from a summer camp thing that was going on at my church and I remember seeing the little graphic at the bottom of the screen with his name,Nancy's, and Daniel's midway through the show. Didn't see NOC so I didn't know what was going on. Thought the thing with Vince was still going on and that someone from creative threw Chris into the story till I saw Vince in the ring and the crowd empty I think after they showed a few matches. I was like :dahell::mindblown: .Turned to CNN realizing that this was a serious issue and not a WWE thing. Before the official news had came out, my young minded self thought Chris had the match at NOC, went home, and got killed/died along with his wife and son. Talked about it all the following day with my friends just trying to come up with some bs speculation and thinking they'll do another tribute on ECW. Tuned into ECW only to see Vince on the screen like *:camby: no more Benoit !!!!* Didn't think he really meant it till I went on WWE.com looking for some tribute shyt on Chris like they did for Eddie but nope. fukkked me up a bit cause it was outta the blue. Dude was legit on tv the week before and now he's gone.

Got a few old dvds with matches featuring Chris that I can't even look at anymore due to him taking shots to the head and hitting/missing the Diving Headbutt. Knowing that those impacts to the head along with other issues that lead to his death got me :mjcry: He made a young me realize how much these wrestlers are willing to literally kill themselves for our entertainment and that it's not a game/business to be played with, this is real life. Anytime he'll go for the Diving Headbutt, we'll all be like *:krs::clap::clap::clap::gladbron::lupe:* while Chris on the outside would be like *:salute::youngsabo: * but on the inside he was truly like *:whoa::damn::sadbron:*

Still think Eddie's death was another huge toll on Chris.

I know people that were hurt over losing someone close to them but when I looked at this like a year or two after the incidents, I was like " All the shyt that's coming out about how bad his health was, drug usage, and plus losing his best friend( friends if you wanna throw Sensational Sherri in also even though she was more so close to Nancy I believe), dude was really fukkked up bad all around and just lost it :to: When people talk about Benoit and where do we stand on him, I like to put my input in by saying that I'm still a fan of him due to what he did in the ring, not what he did in his personal life and especially not in those final three days. That's why I can't be like or get why people be on some fucckk Benoit shyt :pacspit:. Hearing stories from people that knew him and how they say that he loved Nancy even though they had problems and how he loved Daniel just shows that he wasn't right in the head during that time. Some wrestling fans just make it seem like Chris just woke up that Friday or had been planning for months to do the killings before offing himself :martin:

even though evidence shows that he was completely gone and not the same person that most knew him out to be.
:rip: to all three

It's crazy brehs!!

I saw Chris Beniots last televised match.

I never forgot that day.....

My cuz happened to be in a flight layover here in Charlotte going back to Houston for a few hours so he called me to chill and after work I went to keep him company and eat dinner.

I had complete forgot about WWE being in town that day and while were waiting I remember seeing Boogieman, Nunzio, Victoria, Deuce & Domino, Jamie Noble. Maybe a few others but can't remember.... All in the airport getting they bags, eating, or waiting for their rides.

I remember thinking, fukk it after he leaves I guess I will go catch a show.

This was again back when they taped Smackdown but aired live ECW the Tuesday nights (as both brands traveled together).

Benoits last televised matched was again Elijah Burke for the ECW World Title Qualifier.

I remember being hyped cuz if I recall the way the show ended or maybe off cameras Chris and Punk had a face off that hyped everyone up!

It's crazy how things turned out

Yeah I remember his last match and his
last feuds too cause I remember he was feuding with MVP before he got drafted I think. Punk/Benoit was supposed to be like the feud of the year. As good as that Punk/Morrison match was (in September 07 when Punk finally won the title) the Punk/Benoit series would've been even better

When it was first reported as just Benoit dying, I was pretty hurt, as he was an all-time fave of mine. I was watching that special like everybody else simply as a fan. Then the news broke that it was a double murder suicide, and I was completely shocked and not knowing what to think. Still consider him an all-time fave cause never can change what he did in the ring, as if you try to erase him, you erase part of a lot of other guys' careers (Eddie, Malenko, Saturn, Rey, Angle, Booker, Rock, HHH, Austin, HBK, and a host of others), but also for that reason, I've only watched 3 Benoit matches since his death --- him vs DDP and Raven in 97/98, vs HBK/HHH at WM 20, and the 1st MITB match.

I wasn't a wrestling fan at the time so I didn't have any emotional attachment to it. But I do remember people talking about it and the story making waves on the news.

Everything about it was so disturbing.
