What part of the supply side labor market do you not understand?

:jbhmm:

Unskilled laborers are worth whatever employers are willing to pay them.

If your competition is willing to pay more than what pizza man is willing to pay than the only way he will be able to compete is by paying more or settling for less experienced workers.

Economics is the study of choices people make under the conditions of scarcity.

Except a lot of businesses barely break even, look how many shut down during covid. What's that statistic about business? 70% fail within the first year?

We don't know dudes operating costs or how much work he does himself. Its nothing like a chain corporation where he has the backing of billions. This is just a small pizza shop.

We all gone have to work for big businesses I guess. Whether that's a good thing or bad, we'll see. Me personally, I don't trust big business and rather the middle class eat with mom and pop shops. At least support the local economy

If $21 ain't enough then how much should they be paid? :dwillhuh:Somebody brought up $30/hr, that's what most Nurses with Bachelors degrees start off at.

To live comfortably in Chicago you need $30/hr. Y'all basically implying folks should get paid that.

so what?
supply and demand baby!
if it works for products and services then it also applies to labor.

guess what?
the price for a person's time has gone up like gas prices.

what.

This is almost a derail but humans are built for being on their feet for extended periods of time. It's only Americans, that have grown used to sitting down for most of the day, that complain about being on their feet for a long time

You gotta think about evolution alongside advancements in technology. 300 years ago the average life expectancy was 45 years so that right there shows you that man wasn't meant to labor for 40 years through out Thier adult life.

Water purification, sewage systems, mass farming, vaccines, and modern shelters protected us from environmental factors.

Are people supposed to work 40 hrs at a small business in a city where that can't pay for housing to help out the little man?:dwillhuh:

What does 'do us right' mean? Pay wages we can live on? :patrice:

You're just running around the question while choosing not to acknowledge the fact there are market controls that the pizza man can't control.

So yes, pizza man has operational costs like a lease and the purchase of ingredients. Why should the applicant care? The applicant has 2 job offers and one is higher than the other. Thier choice will be obvious given equal working conditions.

As for the corporate backing, no investor is gonna invest in a corporate pizza chain if they're losing money every quarter unless they see this chain as a major disrupter to a market. And by major disruptor, I mean the type of business that will make a whole competing sector obsolete. Restaurant chains don't fall into that category.

so yall happy with small businesses dying off and everything becoming a chain restaurant ?
Small businesses need to start lobbying to get bennies like the big boys do.

Cats cant be asking this question in a vacuum. Nobody is happy about small businesses closing BUT if people working for them cant pay their bills, time to get some of those tax benefits cities throw at big business just to open up. If a small business owner is fronting like they are one of these big businesses looking for talent, then they deserve to go under as well. You either side with labor or go fukk yourself.

This is why it’s a bad time for trying to start a small business

wages, health benefits, cost of paying rent just to have space for something u not making money on is a waste… plus a lot of people having loans to pay back
But coli entrepreneurs told me I have a loser mentality for wanting a stable 40 hour job with benefits
