. There ain't nothing wrong with it but at the same time I don't see why people are consigning him.

They are consigning because his potential is high, he is bringing a lot of skill to the table and he is younger than most budding rappers. How many times do you hear of a new rapper who is just a copy like new cats that are rapping drill and trap...no fundamentals just songs. This kid has mad fundamentals I think if ge had a certain topic, theme or message he could be serious.

I fukks with this dude, I always been a fan of RA and I def hear the gza influence in some of his work, right now he's just building a palette, gets a chance to just dumb out with his rhymes, I have Hugh hopes he and rugged will create a very dope album that doesn't sound all over the place

There are a lot of young rappers that have his skillset but choose to make rhythmic music. You can see this on the BET cypher when nikkas bring out their "bars" verses.
For a technical rapper, he's AIGHT....he's doing nothing outside of that format...Sweat people because they remind you of rawkus era, brehs...not knowing that's what the average 16 year old rapped like then. He's 18 now. It's not special...it should be normal, and it is among certain circles. Get this fat young'n out of here.

he doesn't need nor do i think he wants a mainstream type career. if he gets a career like RA or just being able to tour around the world and make a decent living i think he'd be happy

He's actually on a European tour with RA and Mr. Green right now :jawalrus:

I don't see the hype. I listened to "code #829" and the other track that was posted a month ago, dude is spitting multisyllabic streams of consciousness without any attempt at making a song or leaving a message that resonates with anything after the song is over. There ain't nothing wrong with it but at the same time I don't see why people are consigning him.
Its something new, something fresh and he has skillz.

Future, Young Thug, etc. is all we see. We need more variety like him.

That's the thing though, it ain't new. Like ODot Meta was saying, that type of lyricism was normal in underground 90s rap and somewhat basic. Dudes like Natural Elements, Godfather Don, Percee P, Maestro Fresh Wes, etc. birthed his style. Their flows are old at this point but even they were writing with more intention in terms of making a song. AFRO's flow is a little updated compared to them but he's literally not saying anything.

Young Thug and Future are not lyrically skilled technically-speaking but it's a lot harder to craft a heart-felt song than it is to do what AFRO's doing. If anything the only thing AFRO has over either of them is that he probably grew up reading a lot.

I mean new when it comes to the current scene.

In the current scene this is something new and different.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
He trying to be different and bring it back to the 90's but he going about it all wrong.

It's one thing to go back but his music sounds dated. He hasn't put any artistic spin on it. He's just spitting gibberish. And it doesn't help that he looks like a butch lesbo. I can't knock him for doing what he loves but his music doesn't resonate with my ears or vibe.
