The only form of "toxic masculinity" I somewhat agree with is how we are taught at an early age that a large part of our self worth as a man comes from getting p*ssy.

If women aren't sexually attracted to you it makes you feel like less than a man.

high school they giving it up, but you need to have something that sticks out to them. If you don’t have anything that sticks out and you’re a quiet dude, all you can really do is work on your attractiveness to make it easier.

For most it's simple.

You had a crush on girls when you were younger.

You did something to express that interest in them, and they rejected you for a more attractive man.

You get older, and notice the same pattern of rejection that gets to the point that you don't even feel like approaching women at all because you already feel like you know the outcome based on past experiences.

You notice for some men, picking up women is easy because they are attractive.

The fact that attractive men don't have to work as hard to get women makes them believe that looks are all that matter.

The loneliness and depression leads to looking for people who share similar experiences as you, and that leads to an echo chamber of "all women are whores who care more about looks than anything".

I had a corner seat on the left so there was only one person to my right and she was a female. She refused to look my way and say hi.

Many incels have experiences like that that unfortunately stick in their head for way too long.

If you already have low self-esteem experiences like that only add fuel to the fire.

I do think that looks matter to a certain degree, but I also feel like most incels could attract women if they changed their mentality.
