This was the other night on the radio here. His main examples were MJ and Kobe as elite players who grew up with fathers/a strong family structure and seeing the way they took charge, lead their teams.

Somebody else rebutted with Larry Bird being a great leader, player & having no father and having to take care of his family.

I dont agree or disagree, and I only caught half of the discussion but it was interesting hearing someone go there on a radio show.

I disagree that it is an appropriate discussion to have when you don't know the guy.

I can't stand how these talking heads try to son these grown men (athletes).

I've listened to a bunch of Mike Tyson interviews, over the past year, and these dudes love that he's down and show it by talking to him like he's a child and an idiot.

Lebron's a corporate shill, he's a front runner, at times, but, we have no right to come at him in that manner. That's not his fault, nor our business.

This is the same shyt that Colin Cowherd has tried to pull in the past (I think he mentioned John Walls lack of success, and he also tried to say that NFL players view Roger Goodell as a father figure because many don't have a real one....).

nikkas in here trying to run with the racial angle and shyt. I don't think the point being made, and someone correct me if i'm wrong, is that you can't be successful without a father figure around, but moreso that one COULD lack that extra man gear, that killer instinct. It's a hypothesis i hadn't really thought of before now but when u stop to think about it in my mind the only difference between Lebron and Kobe/MJ, isn't the physical gifts, it's that killer instinct that i don't see nearly as AS MUCH from Lebron that i see in the other two. Times when i think he should be taking over shyt late in games he's hit or miss. When u watch Kobe in the 4th quarter off close games you know what he's going to do 9 times out of 10, he's gonna be aggressive.

I don't know if it could just be the direct contact of a father/constant male figure or maybe that father/constant male figure might put their son in better situations to grow their talents physically and mentally. Add to the fact that there might be those times growing up in sports when instead of a father being there to tell you not to get down on yourself and to get up and get back in the game...you have a mother who's going to be, motherly....and more soothing, dusting you off herself and saying it'll be alright instead that could be the subtle difference between developing that mental toughness that helps one to rise to the occasion versus wilting under the pressure.

fukk it, all i know is he better go Hiroshima and nikkasaki these next two games or else the whole off-season is gonna be every sports commentator on the planet dissecting his psyche.
