Baseball has become a pay to play sport in the US unfortunately. These kids are being sent to expensive ass camps on travel teams, getting private lessons from former pro's, etc....Parents are forking over thousands a year to get their kids ahead. Unlike in basketball where AAU stuff is paid for by shoe companies so families don't feel the burden, baseball and soccer in the US is funded by the parents.

yeah do that now you're getting a baseball to the head for it.

shyt wack. All personality is gone.

I remember the iconic Sosa hop. We use to mimic this shyt in the backyard as kids hitting homeruns with random poles we found and some rocks :mjlol:

Probably get beamed for this too today. Back in the 80s and 90s players use the brawl and no one got suspended :pachaha:

You look at a guy funny and the benches clear with a bunch of huffing and puffing and nothing and fake machoism like bruh take y'all fake tough asses back to the dugout and play ball :beli:

00s was the last decent decade of baseball.

Early 00s fukkery before the game started trending towards Mr Softees ice cream territory:pachaha:

Albert Belle was linebacker with hand eye coordination

I was actually pretty good in little league playing against all the Dominicans and puerto ricans in the bronx. Was left handed pitcher and hitter. Played 1st base and was hitting home runs by the time I was 11.

Won a few championships and even did traveling team trying to get into the national little league tournament.

I stopped because it lost the cool factor and we was getting into our teens and started smoking, drinking , and basketball was more fun honestly. Nobody thought baseball was cool after 13.

I wish I joined my high-school because they were already scouting me prior. I was actually really nice. Would pitch no hitter games and all that
With the way baseball setup I feel like it’s one of the easiest leagues to get into, could be wrong but I would rather my kid try baseball than football

Nah brehs got it all wrong

we’re not interested in baseball growing up because it’s an expensive ass sport.

Uniforms, bats, gloves, a bunch of equipment, all the traveling, etc

now basketball and football does traveling too but the demand for equipment yearly isn’t as aggressive

I don’t know if the expense angle works considering football sure ain’t cheap

they dont want nikkas taking over like they did the NBA and NFL. SImple as that

in the 80s the league was around 35% black. Crenshaw and Inglewood HS were powerhouses in the LA baseball scene. If they didn't take us out through various means we would be 60-70% of the league right now
you gotta be the one :snoop:

MLB has been trying to attract and groom AA talent for decades.

Article is trying to simplify it as if Black ball players are all naturally flamboyant, and were run out of/discouraged from the game because of old school mentalities.

Baseball is ingrained in the cultures of the international Black players who make it to MLB level. Everybody plays, including the best athletes. PR, DR, Cuba, Panama, etc.

Not like that here, and the best athletes play football and basketball.

This true breh. Folks also fail to realize that many of the Latin players are of African descent just like black Americans and yet these afro Latin players are flamboyant as well.

Two issues in the late 70s and early 80s basketball and football exploded in popularity with black Americans and Americans in general. Sports like baseball (and boxing) fell in popularity and the biggest factor was the removal of baseball diamonds in the local parks in rural areas and big cities.

Folks forget that baseball was extremely popular with big city and rural area black folks until the 80s.

On every thing, hit me with a fukking baseball cause I flipped my bat, I'm flipping my bat off your head, bytch!
