He is such a old ass weirdo. Aaliyah was huge her first three albums. She already had the cult following in the 90's. Hoes were wearing the comb over with the sunglasses and all that shyt. I remember I was there.

Nah, I do remember a lukewarm reception to that 3rd album before she passed.

And she stopped doing the comb over and shades before the 3rd album.

I never said she wasn't successful or didn't have a cult following. if you were really around, you would know what I was getting at but instead, theres a clear communication gap here. we're clearly not peers. nor do I ever see you in the real threads concerning that era. you only gravitate towards the kiddie revisionist threads like these. and your screen name is embarrassing if youre in your 30s like you claim.

she was dope for what she was, but after she died, they made her into way more that. in reality, she was a popular kid/teen novelty act. and had a fun run with the 1st two albums.
third album was a flop before she died. if you were around like you claim, you would know that. or you would at least try to dress it up like her real-time stans do. one of them is in this thread. I'm sure that hermaphrodite is lurking and will jump in and help you out pretty soon. YOU clearly weren't around tho. you may have been alive, but you weren't cognizant about r&b.

lol @ the bolded. you think I can actually learn something FROM YOU???? the guy who tried to tell me janet Jackson was a new jack swing pioneer???:laff:

you keep claiming that I'm lying but you can never say what I'm supposedly lying about. just vague claims.

1. again YOU WERENT AROUND to know the sales climates. the big r&b stars were going gold rather quickly during that timeframe. and new acts were coming out, blowing past her.
the sales for her 3rd album were considered disappointing, even by her own label, which is the reason why they rushed out and shot the next two videos. we're talking about an artist coming off of two platinum albums & a movie. and you in here thinking those are good numbers. YOU STUPID. not to mention, the critical reception was poor. like I said, you have no clue what youre talking about. you think you can just piece together history thru what you find on google/Wikipedia and boss up on people who were actually there.

and youre going in circles about the Ginuwine thing. I already broke it down twice for you, and you ignored it.
Aaliyah was moreso a kid/teen thing. and she was never even tops in that lane. she was no superstar kid/teen act like a kriss kross or brandy, nor was she held in high-regard getting adult spins like a monica or Tevin.
meanwhile, Ginuwine was the top male r&b entertainer of his time. that alone should tell you all you need to know, even if you weren't there. but you clearly lack common sense. also, if you knew how to do research on what you missed out on, I wouldn't have to tell you this either. but youre clueless.

Who would you consider a pioneer of new jack swing? Interesting topic. I would say the Janet argument has some legs:ehh:. New jack swing is a branch from a bunch of other shyt though.

True star, biggest star - you reaching for semantics because you know your argument is shyt.

its not semantics. those are two different things.

I stopped reading right there. youre an idiot. peace.

:dahell:

theres nothing to argue about or consider. its not a topic.

teddy riley created new jack swing.

and the janet argument has no legs. she didn't do a new jack swing song until 1989. and she didn't even do her music.

this place is getting too bizarre for me.:scusthov:

Of course it has legs. Any one that knows Music would know that. I wish you had been in that Janet vs Whitney thread I made.

When are we going to stop pretending she was some transcendent talent? She had a couple hot songs and always had her belly button out. :yeshrug:

Somebody else that doesn’t know shyt.

FINALLY SOME ACTUAL ADULTS IN HERE.

I felt like a disgruntled chaperone at chucky cheese thru most of this thread.

Instead of calling Aaliyah the Queen of R&B, we need to just start calling her the Queen of keeping people pressed and bothered.

She been dead damn near 20 years and the sheer mention of her name gets people disgruntled and bothered.

Queen indeed.

Definitely surprised to see nikkas be this bothered over Aaliyah, tho. Definitely a moist characteristic I have to say. :mjlol:

Crazy it's been 24 years since this dropped. At Your Best one of my favorites songs from her but my least favorite of the three albums if I had to rank. For me it's:

One In A Million
Aaliyah
Age Ain't Nothing But A Number

I be forgetting just how far back the 90s is. This album was 24 years ago. Mary J’s debut was 26 years ago. TLC’s debut was 26 years ago.

shyt is wild, b.

The title track on Age is smooth af. One of my favorite Aaliyah songs. I don’t know if I’d call it her best album but the whole joint was a bop from start to finish.
