Let's be honest, not all HBCU's are created equal. Some of them have some real fukked up issues. I think Morris Brown was still around briefly when I started school. When I finished it was done. :dead:

Morris Brown was a joke. On one hand I got love for them cuz they gave me a chance when nobody else would. I got into MB with a GED and a pretty decent sized juvenile arrest jacket. Didn't even go HS past the middle of my 11th grade year. Just had a really high ACT score and a few letters from alumni and local civic people. I wasn't even 6 months out of boot camp before I started there. No way in hell a PWI or a higher tier HBCU would've even looked at my application. Let alone accepted me. But even with all that MB was complete trash. The dorms were horrible, some didn't even have central air. The meal plans were beyond a joke. The Twin Towers on Mitchell St was basically a trap. Teachers could've cares less and and the books and computers was all outdated. When they lost their accreditation I went to Atlanta Metropolitan College around the corner. AMC was juco back then and they had nicer books, labs, computers, cafeteria, and the teachers actually gave a fukk. nikkas can say what they want but there is no fukking reason a juco that costs a fraction of the price as a 4 year school has better everything across the board.

Majority of black scientist engineers and doctors come from HBCUs

How can you think white schools are better unless you are a c00n

"White Ice is colder than black ice" huh?

Exactly I went to a PWI and then kats there loved frat life, skipped classes, the school always hustling students and parents for more and more money every year. The professors didn't give a fukk about the students. Me and some black students had to go to the Dean on a racist professor. The popo on campus would always fukk with black students when we threw parties. White students and professors would be known to call the cops on us if we were hanging around during times school was not open. The college town would set up road blocks whenever the black students and frats had their college night.

I could go on and on and on.

I went to several HBCU's...reason being was because at the time I wanted 0 parts of white institutions
I wasn't racist, I just felt like I could achieve the same thing (a degree) through black channels, then why not?

*sigh* :snoop:
this isn't everything but I don't want to just write a whole book on here:

- first thing that shocked me were the number of people there with GED's. nobody told me that i could have dropped out of high school and still gotten into college. another cat was in there was just out of juvenile. he was there on some program that let kids fresh out of juvie into college.

- met a cat that couldn't read.

- lesbianism was rampant on one campus. "studs" from all over the state were pulling up to the dorm like it was a club. every single night. it was so bad that the university president had an assembly in the auditorium to talk about it

- saw professors postpone or outright cancel exams because it was homecoming weekend or a big classic was coming up...whole classroom of grown people in their 20's going ham over this

- i was a militant then so I helped bring a prominent black filmmaker, black film festival, NCOBRA, and filed paperwork to bring the ACLU to campus; no participation at all, if we brought out 10 people for anything it was a success, nobody knew what the ACLU was

- sexual relationships between staff and students was normal, nobody even cared.

I ended up graduating from a PWI and if i started to compare the two experiences? :usure:

from everything I witnessed, I can say with confidence that all the HBCU's I attended were just scams designed to get money through people who have no business being in college in the first place.

I actually fell out with my Mom back then over that school shyt. We legit didn't talk for damn near a year because of it. She had a little bit of money to pay for it but she was like Nah. She wouldn't submit her IRS shyt for FAFSA and she even called my pops and talked him out of it too. When I was applying to college she sat me down and was like "any school that accepts you is probably not a degree that's gonna be worth anything. nikka you was a royal fukk up since 7th grade, no way in hell im just gonna waste my money for you to go a regular 4 year school when you don't have a track record of doing good in school". She told me if I wanted to go to trade school or get a CDL or some shyt like that then she would be more than happy to pay for it. I didn't listen. Instead got into it with her and went ahead and enrolled in MoB anyway. To keep it a buck I just wanted to get my dikk wet and party. Long story short, mom dukes was right. Luckily I dropped out of college before I got too much debt. If I could go back in time and do shyt the right way and get into a HBCU like Howard or Morehouse then yeah I would do it. But the MoB's, SAV State and Fort Valleys of the world is just wasting your time on top of getting underwater with debt. I make more as a HS and college dropout than the cats I know who got paperwork from those schools. I had been years into working a 9-5 and hustling on the side eating good when most of them cats was coming out in my mid 20s. I've fallen off and climbed back up twice since then and they still not on my level. When I have kids and they get that age if they not able to get into a top tier school then I'm just gonna steer them towards trade school or owning their own business. You gonna make the same thing or even more without all the debt and years wasted.

:wow: damn you listed one of the HBCU's i went to...

man one day I saw nikkas outside the student center shooting dice and gambling..
one of the locals had their pit bull with them too...
what made the shyt funny was it was parent visitation day, so somebody's philip banks' looking father was standing there looking dumbfounded as shyt :mjlol:

the whole experience was like a big ass party
I can't lie, it's easy to get sucked up into that culture
a bunch of bad thick ass women running around too? :ohlawd:

only problem is that if you're REALLY serious about learning then go somewhere else
and you're right about the money after school...my ex dropped out and is doing better than all of us, she ain't got shyt! :mjcry:

Like I said I got my BA and MS from a PWI. Them mothafukkas couldn't care if you flunked or passed. After graduating them mothafukkas couldn't care if you got a job or not.....long as you sent that alumni money.

I will never forget in a programming class the white professor told us on the first day he didn't care if we flunked or pass cause his check gonna clear on pay day no matter what.

The students at PWIs don't even look out for each other or work together as a whole. You can see this shyt when you get a job in corporate America.

One of the first things I noticed working on corporate America was them HBCU folks know how to work together to get shyt done. Mothafukkas be networking they asses off.

Never forget a bunch of black folks were hired in mass at my first job out of college. We were all struggling just to get up to speed. So a older black manager dude who was our mentor (dude graduated from prairie view). Called us all to his office one day after work. Dude was like I know y'all struggling and these white folks here ain't trying to help you cause they don't want you here. But best believe I want you to succeed so we gonna do this like at the HBCUs. We gonna work together and get y'all up to speed.

The brotha had us all come in on the weekends where he would take time out of his day to train us on all the company processes and systems to get us caught up. Man that dude was a life saver and helped make sure none of us got fukked and put on a PIP. I owe that brotha the world.

Also folks don't know but a lot of these companies go straight to HBCUs looking to hire. I have seen whole graduating classes in engineering hired at Florida a&m, Prairie View and Jackson State.

Know family members who went to Jackson state and got jobs before they graduated cause the school was big on job placement and helping them out.

Then I know kats who went to school at places like Mississippi State and the school didn't even try to help them get a job. Seen some of these PWI schools fukk over black students when it came to getting internships.

Damn breh, I feel so bad for you:therethere:. At least you had professors who stuck to just teaching. My professors were activist as Fukk. They were liberal so I was cool with it, But my black professors ( all but one were male), use to go in with the feminism. Made me feel bad to be a man:wow:.Sometimes I just wanted professors who would just teach and shut up. So I guess there's some bright spots.

Im sorry you had a bad experience at your PWI.
