A real D-League could never compete financially with other options.

That, and no matter how much y'all lobby for it, none of y'all truly give a fukk about D-League. That is why you only go to D-League when you're fresh out of options. The money ain't great. The offenses are mostly vanilla. The attention is nonexistent despite CBS and NBATV showing the games.

At best each team can have their own affiliate. Other than that, the D-League would just turn into a stash spot for :flabbynsick: players.

good points
hate to bring up the nhl again, but all anhl teams have a ahl affilate and before the latest cba, you could bury bad contracts in the ahl and it wouldn't count against the cap (even though players would get their full salary)

i hope silver makes the nbdl a viable minor league system like the ahl, triple a, double a etc.

Adam Silver's stance on the age limit fascinating.

"If we're going to be successful in raising the age from 19 to 20, part and parcel in those negotiations goes to the treatment of players on those college campuses and closing the gap between what their scholarships cover and their expenses," Silver said. "We haven't looked specifically at creating a financial incentive for them to stay in college. That's been an option that has been raised over the years, but that's not something that is on the table right now."

In addition, Silver said Emmert and the team owners talked about other ways to potentially ease a player's transition from college to the NBA. This could include changes in officiating and game play, such as reducing the NCAA's shot clock, which is 35 seconds compared to the NBA's 24.

I see the same shytty platitudes in this thread :mjlol:

more kids coming in with an unpolished game who aren't as good are getting paid. an extra year means more learning the game

It also means less money, more ineligibility and more precedent for oppressive rules governing when black kids--and it's only black kids--can enter the league and take care of their families. Players can develop in the league just like in legion of other professional sports.

A real D League would give players an income while the NCAA languishes and refuses to pay players. So of course the D League would be competitive.

Your saying this with the current dleague but if they revamped the system and didn't make it for only struggling players or fringe players it's could be a good tool. I'd see d league teams play if they were a actually developmental system and I could watch promising rookies grow .......but it's not like that . Why are you always giving ownership excuses for their stupidity ? Staying in college for 2 years guarantees no success so why act like it does silver ? :camby: nicca selling wolf tickets

I actually agree with Tre, no one would watch the DLeague or goto games.

We Americans do not like inferior sports leagues. Minor League baseball is the only exception, and thats down to it being ingrained in our society for over 100 years.

Few people watch youth European soccer matches, yet they still commence with the aim of developing players. NBA prospects should be able to choose whether they want to try the D League, the NCAA or international leagues. Age limits shouldn't be imposed just so the NCAA can suck more money out of its slaves. The NBA and NCAA are obviously colluding against the interests of NBA draftees.

A couple of things. I said Americans, not Europeans.

Youth European matches get little to no TV coverage and are often played in small stadiums and they get no one in stadiums either. I actually think American sports should goto that model for athlete development, but that would never happen.

I do not agree with an age limit. I am of the mind that if you are ready at any age, then you should be able to play. Jennifer Capriati made it to the US Open final at 15 back in 1991, and won the Olympic Singles Gold Medal at 16. She was good enough.
