Ok well they need to tweak this shyt

If you draft a player and he is as good as you thought he would be and you resign him to a 2nd contract the total value of that contract shouldn't go against the cap

Teams should not be penalized for scouting the right players and resigning them
It’s a way simpler solution. Penalizing success is the dumbest way to bring “parity” that nobody truly loves.

Fair enough, these are all billionaires. And true regarding results. Celtics and rockets and Lakers unarguably get a higher concentration of free agents than other teams in our lives though.

That said, to your question, a no max system favors the richest franchises and owners I'm free agency. The dodgers and Astros and Yankees and Mets...compared to the pirates and mariners and A's. So, yeah, I don't mind a cap. Like I said though, I like either no cap, or a hardcore cap. Different goals.
I might not have phrased that correctly. You had a cap. There was no max salary. And teams could pay whatever for their OWN guys. Meaning Cleveland in 2010 could pay Bron two or three times the cap itself. No other team (no matter how rich) could even realistically give him the full cap. Who, aside from cheap owners, would take issue with such a system?

I certainly wouldn't. That system was great. The desire to pivot from that was from the owners getting burnt on big/bad contracts, but that's their fault

Free agency leads to super teams

Folks said they hate super teams and don't want players making their own decisions

Can't have it both ways
This. People hated on how "predictable" the super team dominated the league became and lauded the NFL where "every team" has a shot, so Silver said, "alright, let's get that parity going".

Good thing. Maybe cats can start appreciating the talent again. But teams shouldn't be penalized for keeping their home grown/drafted talent. Owners and players got so scared of the Warriors that they went overboard with the apron shyt.

Unfortunately those days are gone. Social Media doesn't allow or even want that. Arguing who the GOAT (whatever sport entertainment etc etc) is what discourse has been reduced too. You cannot even say person A) is my favourite because... You get told you are wrong. And that's not even getting into people not watching/ignoring what actually happened and just throwing stats against the wall and saying I'm right because the numbers say so without the context and nuances behind it

Ironically that during the most unpredictable period in NBA history prior to what we have now of course and during the period where you had Brady and Peyton dominating the NFL. It was never about any of that. People just put these buzzwords out there because they lack understanding, arent getting what they want, and/or dont have the self-awareness or courage to call it what it is.

I think Silver wants to make the NBA like the NFL

He sees that the NFL is King and crafted this CBA to have more parity in the NBA but it's two different sports

I understand the thought process but this CBA is way too restrictive. There's too many little dumb ass rules you can't do this you can't do that

The dumb ass owners panicked when KD went to the Warriors and totally overreacted to that shyt. The factors that allowed the Warriors to have the space to sign KD are once in a lifetime weird shyt that probably won't happen again. The only reason the Warriors had space was because of the low contract they gave Steph due to his bad ankles.

That shyt will never be replicated

They overreacted like some whiny ass goofs so now we have this terrible CBA that basically has killed NBA Free agency

The NBA just signed a $78 billion media rights deal there should be no teams crying broke with revenue sharing

The teams that aren't even tryin is what makes me puke.

There's no cap in MLB but there's no salary floor either. Here's the top 5 and the bottom 5. People really want this type of disparity in the NBA? :gucci:

New York Mets, $323,099,999
Los Angeles Dodgers, $321,287,291
New York Yankees, $293,488,972
Philadelphia Phillies, $284,210,820
Toronto Blue Jays, $239,642,532

Pittsburgh Pirates, $87,645,246
Chicago White Sox, $82,279,825
Tampa Bay Rays, $79,216,312
Athletics, $73,118,981
Miami Marlins, $67,412,619

Indiana is not a free agent destination yet they always field a competitive team.. The onus is on their scouting department.

Alot a these teams are ass and do dumb shyt

Why should everyone else be punished?
Agree.

I think players should earn as much as possible....but we don't need LA/Boston/Miami buying championship teams.

NBA front offices need to be pushed towards higher quality scouting, player development etc.

Silver wants organizations to win championships, not players. He wants that NFL model. Not sure it works in basketball, but that's clearly his goal.
