Smh. Bad situation all-around. Terrible police work but the kid was running from the cops with a gun in his hand. That isn't compliance. I dont believe this rises to the level of criminal culpability like the George Floyd case for example. I think its important to view these cases with nuance, this shouldn't be compared to a george Floyd or the kid that got shot in Minnesota. This kid was terrorizing the community with weapons running with a gang member. Im sick of seeing this shyt.
The hell you talking about?!

He does exactly what the officer says and gets killed?!

The officer did not say turn around, get on your knees, get on the floor.

Edit: The whole thing about the gun was a lie! THERE WAS NO MOTHERfukkING GUN!!!!!

If police turn off their cams ,it should be Immediate termination. They Should have to request that a central location pause them from restroom breaks.
They can easily lie and say it fell and turned off, or any other excuse and their brothers in blue with help them.

They can also refuse to release body cam footage unless a judge orders it.

He had a gun in his hand a split second before he did what the cop asked him to. Imagine you're the cop responding to gun shots and you see a suspect running with a gun in his hand. Cop could've legit feared for his life. If there was no gun involved I'll switch my stance but reports are showing he had a weapon a mere second before getting shot.

Regardless it goes back to police either not being trained properly or a deeper issue . The feeling of thinking black men or in this case a Hispanic kid being a threat .

As a cop you can’t tell him to put his hands up & immediately shoot . People looking too much at the victims character.

Also they tried to lie & say he pointed a gun in order to sway public opinion. Clearly a lie ...that alone needs to be addressed. Jobs should be lost off that alone

This is dumb logic.

If you are scared why are you searching for someone with a gun. You should have quit as soon as you got the call.

No cops want to get shot. When cops are put in compromising positions they are allowed to shoot.

I don’t think retraining helps. You can’t train hate, an inferiority complex or just plain old racism out of someone. Why would you do that when the people with those exact flaws perfectly fit the system you designed? Mental evals, higher entry barriers and removing qualified immunity are the best options, regardless of how realistic Either that or more Ficah Johnson’s and Bhris Dorners :hubie:

Don't see the point your making. Firefighters assume the risk of getting injured on their job but they're equipped to mitigate those risk, just as police are. If a cop has a legitimate reason to think their life is in danger, they're are allowed to mitigate those concerns. The cop in this scenario was called onto the scene after 8 rounds were fired. He arrives and sees a kid running in an alley with a gun in his hand. He's chasing the kid and the kid doesn't drop the gun until the literal last second. I mean was the cop supposed to wait and get shot before he fired?
