Apples to oranges man, Drake drives a whole culture. Drake can sell so many more products than just music, Adele could too but not like Drake. Adele could sell make up and weight loss products to middle aged women. No, the difference is that was 15 years ago prior to streaming and downloading; the whole climate of purchasing music has changed. Luckily enough for Adele, her target audience being middle aged women and the like, they're probably not going to be on RapGodfathers downloading her new shyt. They probably won't be on The Coli dapping another poster for that work, either. She dodged many retail bullets with her audience that didn't even exist 15-20 years ago.

So like I said, ain't a goddamn thing a hip-hop artist or exec can learn from this situation... except maybe sign an artist for the middle aged peoples.

Adele's target audience is 25-44 white women with jobs. That's her largest demographic. It's like she has the older version of Taylor Swift's fans that have money and don't have to wait for their parents lol. Also, no one dislikes Adele regardless of race or gender. She appeals to everyone because she just sings. I do think a minority would do well with the same backing but ultimately, there's no way they will have the backing of 25-44 white women.
