Oh, and I'd never call the American slaves weak. If anything, they were the strongest of our stock because they endured the most brutal form of slavery and oppression I'd say only the Congolese had it worse. The thing is, none of the damages of slavery have ever been addressed properly let alone even discussed.

Brazil had it worse and their slavery didn't end until 1888. Plus the self hate issues in Central and South America still linger around to this day.

If you want a proper rebellion, look at the Maroons in Jamaica . They sonned the English Empire so bad that slavery ended in 1832 officially.

I don't know how many people read the Isis Papers and related work, but it's author mentions how they would mentally break the slaves. I.e. 'look through your slaves for the strongest male slave, the one that clearly has a leadership role in the group, hot tar and beat him to death in front all the slave for all of them to see' or 'hang a pregnant woman upside down, cut her stomach open and allow the fetus to fall to the ground, then stomp the fetus to death in front of all the slaves'

Nat Turner was born in Haiti. He was rebellious by nature.

Its tricky, I don't really like comparing the humaneness of the slave trade cuz they're equally grotesque. But on the whole, in terms of transfer and their on average station of life it was better than an African slave in the Americas. This is of course as long as they let you keep your balls.

Edit: I misread I thought you meant the Arabic trade. The African slave model was a way of assimilating conquered peoples into a group. Since there was a demand for slaves in the Arab world it made for an extra market for kingdoms to get into. It gradually increased until it peaked under the European model. But in practice African slavery itself was much different from American or Arab slavery, although Arab slavery took small elements from the African brand.

Truth, that's how most of Nigeria's modern tribes came to be.

People need to stop comparing to the trans Atlantic slave trade to what was going in Africa for the most part. An African "slave" was usually a P.O.W whose people or village was conquered by another tribe. A African "slave" could own property, marry the members of the conquering tribe, raise a family, and when they had children, their children would be naturalized member of the conquering tribe, not "slaves".

Africans weren't treating other humans like cattle.

The funny thing is people were sick when "Django" and "12 Years A Slave" came out, because they felt it was too brutal. When in truth, the real violence that was going on against slaves makes those movies look like Disney Children's films.
