the fact that people are rationalizing cause its been happening so long and they went through it is just sad man..

the child is fukking 4! some of you seriously need to learn about child development and the affects things like this can have on a child that can lead to later behaviors in life. studies have shown corporal or abusive punishment can lead to mental illness and aggressive behaviors.
just cause you "turned out fine" don't mean the shyt isn't wrong and didn't have some negative affect on you, especially when YOU'RE RATIONALIZING A GROWN MAN, hitting a 4 year old child until he bleeds. and those marks are a week later, after some healing.. based upon the article and what the child said, the child seem legitmately scared of his father. worried his dad would "punch him in the face". that's not normal.

and i seen some people saying thing like "well it's HIS kid!" yeah, so if i have a child and mistreat it thats cool cause its mine kid? WHAT?!
Breh, many of us got beat and turned out fine. It may be hard for you to understand but it ain't that serious. And anybody knows getting hit with a whip, especially a thin one, causes those types of welts. You don't really even have to hit a person hard... and kids have tender skin.

so you saying my father should have been jailed for abuse and never allowed to visit me again? :pachaha:
You' really think beating a kid until he bleeds and or is knocked unconscious isn't abuse ? Your dad grew up in a era where that was ok , but remember at one point we had segregation and people advertised cigarettes to children .

it is indeed normal.

youre supposed to fear your dad.

for the record, if the beating was excessive, then i dont condone it.

Tbh with you this type of situation is not law enforcements business, if AP loses his job and it wrecks their whole livelihood I can assure you when the boy is 16 he will be more upset about how the events which he probably won't even remember affected him and his families future. He won't even care about no damn switch when he knows his dad lost everything over this garbage.

What benefit is it to the actual boy for AP to go to jail and lose his job ?! What benefit ?

This type of situation AP should go to anger management or some kind of family therapy or parent whatever, they learn new methods and move on, ruining his dad's income and life isn't going to do the boy any good.

SMH.

my dad knocked me out before....i'm talking about with a right hook and dropped me. Had to get woken up. Also, nikka hit me in the head with a car part/alternator belt. I still got the mark on my head to this day lol. I was 10. He did it in front of my teacher too and the my classmates had to clean up the blood after I left school. I stayed doing dumb shyt and getting in trouble/suspended. I made all A's though.

I dare one of you bytch ass nikkas to say my pops was abusive. I'll slap you out ya socks. nikka got me everything I wanted. Never missed a basketball/football game I played or nothing either. That's my nikka!!

it's not hard for me to understand, cause i was beat and didn;t turn out fine and i know someone else close to me who got beat and didn't turn out fine, either.

you're trying to rationalizing beating a child because you got beat yourself. do you not see how "abnormal" that is?

anyways

do i think AP should be thrown in jail? no. but i do think he should should see a therapist and get treatment.

beating your childish isn't okay just cause it happened to you.

For those of you who condone child abuse on here.....have you ever thought that the reason he didn't cry, was because he had been beaten before? Could it be that maybe he cried before and AP gave it to him worse because of it??

Now, think of the stated behavior the child was apparently exhibited that AP used as a reason for the beating.....

Any similarities?

Ill wait......

Honestly? I don't know. I don't have any kids yet and I'm inclined to do things differently than my parents did, but I'm not in that situation yet so I can't truthfully say what I would do.

From my perspective, growing up in Nigeria by a Yoruba father and a Benin mother, this type of discipline was commonplace so I'm not trippin. AP will probably have to alter his methods a little bit since American sensibilities are changing rapidly.
