NFL I'm definitely taking the money these teams will :camby: you as soon as your guaranteed money runs out.

NBA and mlb I might lean towards rings more because you get paid whether they want you there or not.
I'd be on that Raef Lafrenz, Allan Houston type shyt where my contract is getting traded across the league YEARS after I hung it up :blessed:

:mjlol: that chump change

you know that a vet minimum in the NBA is only double that, right?

that's why tyson chandler, at age 32, ain't thinking about "one more good run" being a defensive anchor for a team that needs one more piece to get over the top - dude took 32 million to play for the ph:flabbynsick:nix suns. he won't even be able to walk two years into that deal :bryan:

Yeah but from a football perspective, if you're making the league minimum, 165k is quite substantial.

NYC (but PGH will forever be home)
Top player in an elite position (QB, Star ball player)? Probably taking the rings.:yeshrug:

At that point we are probably talking maybe a 10%-15% haircut. The extra endorsements you would get after winning a ring would more than cover that haircut. Hell- you think Eli would be caking off these commercials if he didnt have those two rings?:usure:

Any other situation? Take the money and dont even think twice

I want the best of both worlds. That's what free agency is for. When you win, you get more notoriety and endorsements too. We got Harrison Barnes commercials outchea (in a GMC ad).

You're already one of the best players you're getting endorsement, and speaking engagements already.
Not always - a guy like Jeter would not be as marketable if he left NY. There are lots of players who have benefited financially in the long run from staying with certain teams when they could have made more with others.

Cause kevin Durant isn't more marketable or just as marketable as melo or anyone who's played in Brooklyn :heh:

And you also picked a horrible example because 1 baseball doesn't market individuals
2 they get the biggest contracts so why would you pass up a guaranteed 25 mil a year for some endorsement money that in most instances ain't gon be but 2-3 mil
3 Griffey Jr was more marketable than Jeter and he played in Seattle

I'd rather be Steve Nash than broke ass pippen

let a fan ask me to step out of a 10 million dollar a year contract so that the 'team can have some capspace back' :mjlol: 'hometown discount' :mjlol:

:camby:
What's with the extremes? I'd sacrifice a 5 million for a ring in an instant. I don't see what an extra 5 million would do for you when you're earning $20mil yearly from salary/endorsements.

alright well take a few million less and watch your team trade for the worst PG in the league. end up in the same season end as the guy who is basically holding his franchise hostage with his contract-> no ring

Your examples don't negate mine. Like I said, in some cases players are better served taking a little less to remain with a team that is either more marketable or more of a winner.

nikkas are multi-millionaires talking about their children's tuition and putting food on the table. :mjlol:

$150m from salaries/endorsements with 2 rings?

OR

$200m from salaries/endorsements with 0 rings?

Give me the former. I'm a winner, I want to win.

If it's football then you always go for the money

Them contracts aren't guaranteed and you will more than likely get hurt at some point

Basketball,it would depend on the situation

Any other sport it would definitely be money since i dont care about the sport anyway
