My Pops Forever RIP
actually this thread got me thinkin... what if you start a sports league where the teams didnt have a "home". meaning instead of the oakland raiders they were just the raiders. instead of the dallas mavericks they were just the mavericks.

instead of home and away games, every game would be neutral. teams would always be travelling. this means if you live in new york then tonight at the garden might be lakers v. hornets, but the next night it might be celtics v. bulls. shyt there might be hot ticket almost every other night depending on who's scheduled to play in your hometown that night.

i dunno, what yall think?

personally i believe it would give teams a better chance of growing their brand. must a team be defined by its geographical location?
it's called barnstorming

Salt Lake City, hmm? Interesting...

...and i'm seeing San Antonio on a couple of lists...have they made the leap to major status?
San Antonio is larger than Dallas and the 7 largest city in the US

The Central Florida market very much is

It is a big market, but it's got a grip of attractions already to compete with.

You got Disney World, Universal Studios, Miami isn't that far away, The Keys,
any beach, Kissimee-St. Cloud, all the Auto racing crackin' down there...

Normal people who reside down there don't regularly go to Disney World or Universal. That's a tourist thing.

Also, being close to an area that's popping isn't really a valid reason for leagues to not grant markets teams. Anaheim is close to LA. Do they not deserve the Angels?

Bad example...Anaheim sucks. I say this as an L.A. born gentleman.
Angels should've been left, Ducks were a joke that just happened to go legit.

...and you had only room for 20 franchises, 10 west and 10 east.
Which cities matter enough to be included?
It depends on the sport. It is much harder to support a team where no one knows about the sport than in a city where a lot of people know about the sport.
When they added NHL teams in Tampa Bay, Dallas, Phoenix and Atlanta, It was an uphill battle. When they added NHL teams in Colorado, Ottawa, and Winnepeg, it was easy.

What sport are you talking about? Pro frisbee golf? Lingerie Basketball League? Midget Professional Basketball?
East will always include NYC, and West will always include Los Angeles. So, the other 18 teams are more difficult to choose.

Atlanta and Miami are by far, the worst sports cities in the US.
