They are good players, not great and he only drafted one of them.

You still lack the franchise dude, at some point he has to cash in. Passing on Giannis was a huge blunder too.

True. But you don't decimate the depth of your team to acquire one. Look how Nets and Knicks ended up.

The reason Celtics is in better spot than any of Hawks, 2011 Nuggets and Iggy sixers are:

- They have the cap space to sign TWO max free agents. They can try to recruit one and compete for the playoffs at the same time, making it more interesting for superstar free agents.

- If step one fails, we can always use the BKN picks to develop stars while competing. See how guys like Butler and Kawhi developed in a winning environment. Or...

- Use those assets along with other young players and send them for a franchise player that is disgruntled with his current team.

Patience is the key. This ain't NBA 2k, where you can instantly trade for something that is not there. Danny already learned his lesson with the Giannis blunder, so he drafted a wildcard Euro this time and took a risk.

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
@KevJ @SchoolboyC are they bringing Guerschon Yabusele over this year or not? I was checking out his clips back when I was looking at Luwawu and liked what I saw with him, he looks like what people wanted Anthony Bennett to be.

I agree, he's very intriguing...

But it seems like zizic has a better chance of playing for us this year, but both are unlikely

1) Franchise cornerstones don't move around in free agency all too often. More often than not, teams either re-sign them or trade them.

2) Look back at Boston's history, they don't really sign great players in FA. They either draft them (Bird, Parish, Pierce, Rondo) or trade for them (Garnett, Allen). It's been that way for 30 years. I think they'll use that cap room to overpay for a Bismack Biyombo or Chandler Parsons.

3) Boston's best route to a contender is the draft, but as we've established Ainge sucks at drafting.

4) As good as the Celtics are, they don't really have assets other teams value. And the only players other teams want like Crowder or Bradley, Ainge is unwilling to let go of them.

Everyone has tons of cap space. Thanks to the cap spiking cap space isn't really that special this summer.
Durant was the first person, EVER to consider Boston as his free agency destination. No superstars in their prime had even a talk with the Celtics front office before. That's an improvement.

That's about as good as a pat on the head. He's not going there, so who cares. No star FA will sign with Boston until they trade for or draft a star.

I would wait where he will land before giving that statement. Who knows? Nobody thought Lebron would go to Miami and his return to Cleveland was also not expected.

Eventually these picks and assets will lead them into trading for a player or drafting one with teams like the Nets probably being historically bad next season. Patience is a virtue and it's not like the Celtics haven't made the playoffs the past two years while rebuilding. It will take time for them to find a star but the fan base should give Ainge a little bit more time before they begin calling for his head. His draft record is not the best (or worst either) but he wins a lot of trades and he's got the title in 08 to prove his method works.

Team just looks to be built around 12 roleplayers no stand out player in the bunch, it was painful watching that Hawks series.:mjcry:

Danny just refusing to take an L with a deal after fleecing everyone , it's crazy how even the owner now talking that they were trying to be rape us deal wise.

Yeah the Philly deal sucked I wouldn't of taken that but no excuse to not toss Chicago the 3rd pick and let them choose their piece(s) to get Butler. Dude is arguably a top 3 SG currently. If you put that type of player on this squad your automatically a ECF squad no matter who you send to Chicago because this squad is stacked with the same player at each position.

Celtics would have mopped the floor with the Hawks if Bradley didn't get hurt and Crowder is playing with two legs.

You sound like a hater.

This whole thing about Danny being a terrible drafter in not correct, he's had some very good finds. He's drafted rondo, Jefferson, Bradley, Perkins, tony Allen, delonte west, Gerald green, Jared sullinger, Kelly olynyk, terry rozier, Jordan Mickey, Marcus smart, RJ Hunter, Ryan Gomes, Leon powe, and big baby... I'm sure I missed someone too, so for every "awful" pick I can name you three that worked out.

To act like the Celtics don't have assets aside from the Brooklyn pick is incorrect as well. Please don't tell me the Celtics couldn't get something for olynyk, a 7 foot 3 point shooter that played big minutes on a top 5 defense and didn't embarrass himself.

People want smart, but Danny sees his potential and probably values him more than most

No one wants Isaiah Thomas, an all star making 6 million a year?

Danny also did say earlier this month that teams were calling about rozier and mickey

We have the opportunity to develop players the right way (not bringing in top 5 picks to a losing environment) with a great coaching staff and front office. We have the Brooklyn pick two more years and they are the favorite for the worst pick in the best draft this decade by a mile. They traded Thaddeus young for injury prone caris levert, I get why they did it, but that certainly doesn't make them better this year.

We have Bradley, crowder, and Thomas as 3 of the best 10 bargain contracts in the entire league.

As far as jaylen brown, I'd be willing to bet we will be having a much different conversation about him once summer league gets going.

All our other picks were good, fukk the haters.

And oh yeah, we got an interview scheduled with Kevin Durant, and we are the only team out of the 6 that can tell him we can sign one other max guy.

Idk about that they were having trouble scoring regardless. The 3s weren't falling and they weren't going inside. That run in the 1st game to end it came out of nowhere but they were gonna live and die by the runs that series. They prob lose in 7

Um, no. Plenty of people thought he'd leave Miami for Cleveland. Because 1) Ohio is home and 2) Cleveland's surrounding cast was better than Miami (considering Wade's bad knees).

Durant's priority is a title. Even if the Celtics get Horford, that's still not better than what OKC has right now. Or at least Ainge would have to convince Durant to put faith in pieces that haven't been put in place.
