I don't think anyone is questioning the moves to get picks that Danny made, but instead, what he has done with those picks. He has not drafted well at all and we, as fans, keep hearing of FIREWORKS that never come. We are lacking game changers and talent and neither of those have come by way of the picks/draft. At some point you gotta lower your value of all these pics, some you can't even use, and make a move.
If the Noel/Covington/2 late picks rumors are true for the #3 and they didn't take it, they will never trade. I don't want to give away picks, but I don't see how, thru the last few drafts, we have positioned ourselves to be contenders or lure in top talent.

Sullinger sucks. Not only that, he came with a red flag because his back was cooked.
Olynyk is a bamma and nothing more. Took him ahead of Giannis, but fine he was a mid-round pick.
Smart was a top 5 pick and yet you or I could shoot better than him. Young, Johnson, and Rozier are hot garbage.
Sullinger was a good pick for 21
And everybody missed out on Gianni's
Smart was our 2nd or 3rd best player in the playoffs, if he adds a 35% 3 point shot and maintains his defense, he's a great pick

We could have traded our picks or those picks for other assets though, and filled 2 needs at the same time. I get Noel isn't a max deal guy, but with all our cap space and history of not signing FAs, whats the point of having damn near 50 mil in cap space? We don't have the room or the need to sign bargain vets, we have a whole team of role players. At some point you gotta spend money and if it gives us a young rim protector we overpaid for, so be it.

But that kind of makes it worse. Imagine being able to have had Dunn or Noel/Covington along with the potential of adding a another possible top 3 player next year who might fit their needs. Instead they draft a guy 4-5 spots ahead of where he was projected to go.

I would love to be wrong. I would love for this thread to be bumped in a year or two with people laughing at how ridiculously off my posts were.
But at the moment I have zero faith in Ainge's drafting and I have very little faith in general that he can actually assemble a team who has a chance at winning anything anytime soon
