Love
I would love to be wrong. I would love for this thread to be bumped in a year or two with people laughing at how ridiculously off my posts were.

But at the moment I have zero faith in Ainge's drafting and I have very little faith in general that he can actually assemble a team who has a chance at winning anything anytime soon
I hear you but gotta have some level of faith, doggy. At least enough to not make these threads. It's one thing to see what hapenned in the draft and be skeptical and decide to "wait and see" what happens. Starting threads like this is a whole other sh!t.

See...i used to never trust Pat RIley when it comes to the draft. He's brought many great free-agents to Miami via free agency and trade (Zo, Eddi Jones, Hardaway, Shaq, LeBron, Bosh, etc) but had fukked up many draft picks (Eddie House and countless others) but every year i still trust that he and his scouts know what they are doing. For example
  1. I kinda questioned the Wade pick too because i heard so many people in the media ... right until i saw Wade in a Summer League game and the kid had me like
  2. We all know he didnt want Beasley to begin with but had little choice but to take him.
But over the years he and his staff have gotten much better at scouting players and getting some gems in the 2nd round. Look at Josh Richardson on the Heat. 2nd round pick but he looks like he could eventually replace Wade when Wade retires in 2 years . I always say give it two years with young players.

Bobby Portis and Larry Nance Jr went shortly after Rozier; Josh Richardson went after Hunter.

Gary Harris and Rodney Hood went after James Young.

Draymond Green and Khris Middleton went after Melo and Sully.

Jimmy Butler and Chandler Parsons went after Marshon Brooks.

You can say other teams passed on these guys too, but good GMs hit a couple of these mid-late first round picks. Danny hasn't hit shyt in the draft. He's a fraud but if you Boston fans want to continue placing your faith in him, I'm all for it. :pachaha:
this ether:mjlol:

Danny Ainge drafts like he's running a football organization. That's not how it works. The NBA only has 15 spots you have to get the player you think will be a star. Some people are trying to :cape: for Ainge saying these guys haven't played yet and you're right but look at the guys track record, people should be calling him out. Celtics have been talking about all those picks forever and that's what they end up with :wtf:

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
Danny Ainge's 1st round picks in the previous 5 drafts heading into this one:
JaJuan Johnson
Jared Sullinger
Fab Melo
Kelly Olynyk
Marcus Smart
James Young
Terry Rozier
RJ Hunter

But y'all homers can continue to cape for this man

Why leave out al Jefferson, Perkins, Delonte, tony Allen, etc?

Let's not forget people like baby, Gomes, powe, and even now Jordan Mickey in the 2nd round

All those guys you just named with the exception of Mickey got drafted 10+ years ago

If you have to go back that far to find good picks Ainge has made my point has been proven. He has generally drafted terribly over the past 5-6 years, there is no way around that.

Problem with Ainge is he's done all this asset gathering but hasn't been able to turn it in to the star that they badly need. Brad Stephens I think covers up a lot for Ainge's shortcomings cause there is no reason the Celtics should have won as much as they did last year. Basically since the Harden trade it seemed Ainge has tried to take a similar approach and keep amassing more and more assets to eventually flip it for that big star. NBA is a star driven league and at some point even if you have to take an L on the trade front you have to come off those assets to land that star that you can build around. Having all those first round picks is great until the season starts and other teams start seeing where those draft picks are going to fall and more of a read on what players will be available.

You're pointing this out like anyone saw Giannis developing into what he is now and what he will be later on:francis:

Breh was barely 18 playing in Greece :francis:

We got brehs talkin bout we missed out on Draymond and Jimmy, because we all seen them becoming as good as they are today right:francis:

Hindsight is 20/20, stop using gambles as examples like they were touted as high lottery picks :francis:

Hate now but don't say anything when we in the ECF:umad:
