This is a good one as well. It’s literally Dr. Dre rapping in whoever wrote his lyrics for damn damn the entire album. The ONLY good song on there where Dre sounds like himself is “Writing In My Diary”. Best beat in there as well. The songs where he sounds like Kendrick Lamar :hhh::hhh:
Yeah cause talking to my diary was the only song off the album where Dre sounded like 99 Dre. The rest of the songs was a blatant attempt by Dre to jump on new rapper wave, rather than making something Dre exclusive.

When this budget meek mill shyt dropped on the first song of the album, I damn near turned it off completely :mjlol:

IAM - Revoir Un Printemps

Following the classic L'école du Micro D'argent, the fact that Freeman was gonna have more mic time, feature from Beyonce, Meth and Red, i just felt like the production was soso and kinda forgettable

I think that album only helped Anderson Paak to get to the next level. Might as well call him MVP of the album.

Give me The Wash soundtrack, where Dre was involved, over Compton any day of the week.

504 Boyz- Goodfellas

This was the potential:

That's not even counting that every track P, Silkk and Mystikal did together was FIRE.

All they had to do was drop that album with the P, Silkk, Mystikal as planned in 1999.

I think y’all are remembering the Ross and GFID/Rich Forever situation wrong. Or maybe I am.

My memory is that it was Rozay’s fault, or overconfidence. Dropped Rich Forever as a tape to get the buzz, and then drop the album afterward to capitalize. He followed this model most of his career, as did a lot of rappers during that time. Mixtape then album. Remember BMF was originally on the mixtape before Teflon Don. That worked because Teflon Don was also great.

The problem this time around was Ross used up his best material and then the album was weak. Put songs like Stay Schemin, Triple Beam Dreams and Rich Forever on the album too but took the rawness out of them but having them altered.
Nah he wanted Rich Forever to be the album, Def Jam wouldn't let him. He didn't really say the reason [IMO it did sound like a mixtape A LOT of those beats were similar] So he dropped Rich Forever as kinda like a middle finger and just hold out on them

This album just kinda wasn't necessary, I remember that long ass caption of him saying the label didn't want him to put this out...the label was right :yeshrug: sometimes the label is tryna protect you from yourself

Yes the album was shytty.
IAM peak at l'Ecole du Micro D'Argent. Le reste est mediocre.

That particular Marseille scene fell off hard around the 2000s. But they had a legendary run.

He was basically introduced as the singing version of Kendrick. I remember some interview from around the time Compton came out, they were talking about how amazing it was that he was simulating drowning by choking on water in front of a mic. Who the fukk wants to listen to that :dahell:
