Completely forgot about that album. Was it the shytty rapping, the beats, or both?
both. Kurupt just wasn't doing it and Quik was experimenting with the sounds drums/melodies in a way that didn't' gel with what Kurupt was doing to me. but he redeemed himself later with an unexpected collab that is really dope Rosecrans with Problem. On paper him and Kurupt should have been it.

Yeah I remember some of the beats on Quik Kurupt collab were all over the place. And as expected Kurupt hasn't been nice at rapping since mid 90s.

Kurupt is notorious for ruining great beats. After space boogie album flop them producers were finally done with his lyrical miracle ass :russ:

Definitely expected better coming off these:

Whats crazy is they came back 2 years later and drop this on The Book of David album which crush everything on that Blaqout album

His comeback album The 18th Letter was pretty dope, and the lead single for this one was a heater produced by Premo. But listening to the album was a chore. I don't remember anything else from the joint, and we know Nas barely remembered it when he low key dissed it on "Unauthorized Biography Of Rakim":mjlol:

The end of Rakim as far as the general public wanting to hear new music

Cmurder- Bossalinie: C spent all of 98 killing his features only to drop this dud at the top of 99 but to be fair ALL of the 99 NL releases fell short since BBTP and half the roster left.

Turk-Young & Thuggin: casualty of dropping too late so it didnt sound or feel like a Cash Money album...no Juve, 1 BG verse, 2 Wayne verses, Fresh in his experimental phase which was hit or miss. If anybody needed to do their album with the squad intact, it was Turk.

Chamillionaire-Sound of Revenge: Im from Texas so I was anticipating Chamillionaire's solo back when it was called Color Changin Lizard....then he switched his style on Mixtape Messiah and spent the majority of the tape dissing Mike Jones....then he got the deal, changed the title which I hated...and yeah, the album fell flat as shyt...generic beats and his flows, punchlines, charisma, hooks...all that declined drastically imo...im glad he got a hit out of it tho

Talking about albums that's a chore to go through

This fukking album SUCKED

I get money was a hit, but the rest of the album? Mid as hell. With plenty of tracks being a generic G-Unit shyt. They were still very popular back then, which makes the album a big disappointment.

There were so few good songs on that album it was crazy. Ayo Technology was a stupid song title and mediocre song. Amusement Park was trash and didn’t at all hit like previous hits, he fell into I Get Money, and I’ll Still Kill was alright. I kinda liked Straight The Bank but still didn’t listen to it much. Don’t even get me started on those embarrassing songs with Eminem and Nicole Scherzinger.

Yeah 50 kept making cheesy hits trying to chase that In Da Club success when that song was impossible to repeat.

I remember Massacre was 50/50, it had really great songs and garbage too. Curtis went all da way to the worse side

Dre's Compton felt boring to me also

There was nothing remarkable just bunch of OK good quality songs. If Dre wasn't teasing his audience with Detox, Compton could have been received better by the public.

You know what’s crazy about this? I’m a vinyl head and back when I was crate digging at least once a week, one of the stores I go to had this album for 19.99… that’s a major steal in the vinyl game. I saw that album everytime I went to that store and I’m betting it’s still there today lol. All other Jay albums were way more and mostly gone, but not this album.

I always heard that digital recordings on vinyl were a waste of money, I'm surprised it wasn't cheaper.

This is a good one as well. It’s literally Dr. Dre rapping in whoever wrote his lyrics for damn damn the entire album. The ONLY good song on there where Dre sounds like himself is “Writing In My Diary”. Best beat in there as well. The songs where he sounds like Kendrick Lamar :hhh::hhh:
