Damnnn word?
thought this joint was fire, one of his best albums imo 🤷‍♂️

break ya neck was on Genesis tho btw Touch It was the big single off BBT

Yeah, I meant to clarify that. I was trying to say that the Dre produced "Break Ya Neck" sounded more like a Busta song than any of the Dre tracks from Big Bang.

Rotten Apple was a letdown. Banks voice has slightly changed for the worse on that album. The beats were boring. Just in general a very boring album.

Canibus debut album is universally accepted as one of the biggest disappointments ever. All those crazy freestyles, etc. and it didn't amount to shyt on that mainstream attempt.

Oh and definitely Lasers too :mjlol: such a trash album from Lupe.

A lot of albums I haven’t listened to in 15 years listed in this thread.

Good old SOHH days when all the big releases had their own threads and people reacted to it live. Someone said Recovery above, and I remember all the love it got when it was first released

This was an even bigger letdown cause the In My Mind Gangsta Grillz tape before it was a classic

Boot Camp- For the People is a good one. Boot Camp never recovered.
100% on this one. They had the album run up until this with the Groups and it built up a lot of hype for the WHOLE BCC to drop an album like the Wu.... It fell way short and as you said that basically was it, a wrap after that especially as a group.

I agree. I can't put my finger on exactly why but I just don’t love Tical. Plenty of bangers, it's just not a classic and it should've been.

Why did rza go so lofi on this?

No gza? No ghost?

No real continuity or sequencing, just felt like a dozen random meth songs

IIRC, def jam rushed this and they recorded it while touring. Plus flood. Still no excuse.

Return to the 36 Chambers dropped about 4 months later and had noticably better production and much more of a Wu feel.

ODB's album is classic to me and easily better than tical.
Tical was my first Wu related album so there is nostalgia there and I listened to it quite a bit that year..... It is a GOOD album but you are right on the other solos after that! They just were levels above production wise etc., more clean, polished and Rza seemed to really be on his A game for that run after Tical up until after Forever. It's a solid album but it could have been a flawless Wu classic 5 mic album...... That is what we should have gotten from Mef his first go round.

I think y’all are remembering the Ross and GFID/Rich Forever situation wrong. Or maybe I am.

My memory is that it was Rozay’s fault, or overconfidence. Dropped Rich Forever as a tape to get the buzz, and then drop the album afterward to capitalize. He followed this model most of his career, as did a lot of rappers during that time. Mixtape then album. Remember BMF was originally on the mixtape before Teflon Don. That worked because Teflon Don was also great.

The problem this time around was Ross used up his best material and then the album was weak. Put songs like Stay Schemin, Triple Beam Dreams and Rich Forever on the album too but took the rawness out of them but having them altered.
