I expected to hate this EP after seeing this cover art and just having a gut feeling it would be on some drumless artsy shyt. I’m so tired of drumless beats y’all.
Well, spoiler alert. I was right about it being artsy and drumless. However, despite that, I think this sounds really vibrant and colorful. I was very surprised I actually liked this. It’s nothing like Bread or Lunch Meat. This EP really does sound how the cover art looks. Don’t expect any bangers like you heard on Tea in China or Lulu. But it’s still groovy.
came in here knowing you would hate on the drumless shyt but alas you've come to the darkside...drumless Alc loops for the win
Nah in all seriousness sometimes there is a place for the drumless beats depending on the MC, sequencing, overall vibe of the project. This one fits I'm feeling this project
Earl actually sounds dope on here. Definitely got a different energy on this one!
I'm trying to catch up on him, Mutant Academy, Fly Anakin, Navy Blue, Sideshow, Maxo, and some of these related cats.cant go wrong with pink siifu

Good question brehyeah I'm trying to figure out where to start with these type of dudes. I really got into hommy lately, been going through his projects, now I'm finding all these other dudes, that arm and hammer album got me wanting to check out like quelle Chris and billy woods and shyt, but I don't really know what their seminal work is, ya know?
What are the classic grad school rap tracks and albums I gotta listen to

@neph27With Armand Hammer (Billy Woods and Elucid) I'd def check out Race Music. For Billy Woods solo def check out History Will Absolve Me and then check out the albums after that.
Hommy...I like him overall but I'll let @Zero recommend a better route to getting into him. There's just so much stuff.
@neph27
Those are the best starting points for Armand Hammer. Be sure to check out Save Yourself from Elucid too.
Track down Haitian Body Odor and the G.A.T for Mach. Those are his 2 best solos IMO.
Quelle Chris dropped Guns in 2019 which was actually pretty good to me. That's his only solo I've peeped thus far. His duet album with his wife Jean Grae had some good moments but overall a little too left field.
