With the exception of HNIC (and even that's debatable), Calchemist never contributes the best track on any project with multiple producers. If there's a Premo or a Pete Rock-level producer on the same project, he'll be outshined. Hard. Examples run long. But Industry Shakedown, Lost Tapes, God's Son and Cuban Linx 2 immediately come to mind.
There's no way in hell you can be top 10 with a situation like that. Alc is good for underground album filler 98% of the time. He's made hundreds if not thousands of beats (that's what he does - stays flooding the underground scene with mediocre shyt) and very few beats are good.
keep forcing it
burned in your mind
Hes better than pete rock for sure breh...and so are dilla and madlib...Ya, he doesnt have any certified classics, which maybe disqualifies him from the goat. But he has plentyyyyyyy of classic songs. I think when you factor in longevity, Alc definitely has an argument for being a top 5 producer. That said, I can't put him above RZA Pete Rock and Dre, and I can only give him a tie against J Dilla and Madlib. he isn't squarely in my top 5
He makes the top 10 with ease though
How'd you feel about Just Blaze as a producer? Do you regard him as a better producer than Alchemist?
Blaze has some heat. Oh Boy is genius, and he did chipmunk soul better than Ye.
His sound is limited though. Haven't heard a dope beat from dude since 04 or some shyt.
I think Alc has more bangers, but barely
That's Violent Jnumber 1 white boy in rap of all time

I couldnt disagree more
ALC had the best beat on:
Kiss The Game Goodbye (We Gon Make It) ------------- nah. Premo did.
Duces N Trayz (Friends) ------ who?!
Expansion Team (Worst Comes to Worst) ------who?! jokes aside, agree with this. I never cared for this beat, but it's definitely better than the bullshyt Premo gave them. On an album no one cared about.
Welcome to tha Dogg House Vol 1 (Hey You) --- who?
Loyalty (Bust at You) --- who?
Special Edition (Big TWINS) --- who?
Bulletproof Wallets (Juks/The Forest) -- Easily one of Alc's greatest beats, and by far the best beat on Bulletproof. Bullshyt album tho.
Warning Shots (Stalking Cap) --- who?
Kiss of Death (Still Feel Me) --- agree. another great Alc beat. Then again, Kiss has shytty solos that no one cares about. And this is no different.
R&G (I Love to Give You Light) ----You have got to be kidding. You're really comparing this weak ass shyt with barely 7 thou views to the monster records that the Neptunes put up? The shyts that had almost every hip hop producer going back to the drawing board? Cmon breh.
Time Is Money (I'm Black) --- never heard this album, and most hip hop fans haven't.
Loso's Way (Lullaby) - who cares?
Amerikaz Nightmare (Win or Lose/When U Hear That) - no "Got It Twisted?"I think this is when the "Calc is so dope" struggle-narrative started building. Alc definitely got Havoc here with Got It Twisted alone.
Super Gangster (Green Piece of Paper) --- who?
Channel 10 (Follow the Dollar) ---- who?
Slaughterhouse (Microphone) --- who?
Doris (Uncle Al) --- who?
Oxymoron (Break The Bank) ----- who?
Success is Certain (I Aint Coming Down) --- bullshyt album, and nah. Second Place, a mediocre beat by Preme standards, is still more memorable than Alc's shyt.
Mr Wonderful (Terry) --- 40 of all people got Alc on this![]()

LOL....I could go on...plus who had a better beat on God's Son than Revolutionary Warfare??

If you're comparing him to GOATs like Primo and Pete, then yeah, he might fall short sometimes. His sound has also evolved far beyond what they do, and he's arguably better than ever, which no one can say for Primo and Pete...

Dude is a LOOPER..
Every time I hear the original of the best Alchemist beats, I am like...Anybody could have made that beat...
You get not credit for finding a rare sample...In fact, Samplers who look for rare samples do so, because they want to loop and get credit, knowing fully well that they didn't do sh@t...![]()
Well that was a whole bunch of nothing. Thought we were going to have an actual discussion, my bad. Troll along nowThose are all albums no one gives a fukk about. It's one thing to have the best beat on Lost Tapes, and a whole other thing to have the best beat on Mr Wonderful
You've never heard of Made You Look? Please do not even try to tell me Rev Warfare is remotely in that stratosphere. You'll just look stupid saying so.
Get Down actually gets played outside. Never heard Rev Warfare anywhere. Nobody but Alc fans think that track is worth hearing.
Let a cac in, and other cacs will eventually start talking about how he outdid "Teh Blacks". Never fails
He doesn't fall short sometimes. Premo and Pete Rock have more dope beats in 1994 than Alc has in his entire career. Think about that for a sec. Whole different level, breh
Well that was a whole bunch of nothing. Thought we were going to have an actual discussion, my bad. Troll along now

Trying to find a way to exit the convo quickly?
Maybe strictly talking album wise no, but he's in my top 3 and my personal favorite, and he has classic songs
Holla if you want some more, i got them for days
Alc and Madlib are probably my two favorite producers, but objectively I think Just Blaze is the most talented to do it out of that group that started in the late 90's.How'd you feel about Just Blaze as a producer? Do you regard him as a better producer than Alchemist?
