lol...I agree with the OP. There's going to come a time in the playoffs that's going to require Alex Smith to make plays downfield, longer than 15 yards, and he's not going to get it done. Sorry.

Not if that D and special teams keep playing the way they have been. They are good enough to carry any QB. Chiefs look like they may get home field advantage throughout the playoffs so they could make the SB.

Okay arm compared to who? What starting QB's right now is his arm stronger then? Andy Dalton. Carson Palmer. Anybody else?

His arm strength is clearly below average by NFL standards.
:russ: at bolded, you came to your senses now :dead:

average for NFL standards over the years. this year its prolly below average, youre right. his arm strength is about the same as gabbert or ryan

I can't hate....Alex Smith's evolved into the ultimate game manager quarterback. His career prolly should've ended years ago but he's developed a nice little niche for himself. If the Chiefs get behind in the playoffs they're done but KC is pretty much the perfect situation for Smith.

They're probably going to lose to a team like Denver, Indy, or the Patriots when the game is tight, and the opposing team doesn't turn the ball over, and they crowd the box and dare Smith to beat them deep and he won't be able to.

Their D is beasting, but remember they haven't really played anybody yet. These are the teams they've beaten:

Jaguars
Cowboys
Eagles
Giants
Titans
Raiders
Texans

And they struggled with the Cowboys, Titans, and Texans, who aren't even good. The other four teams are trash. They're not going to keep getting by on all these turnovers and sacks in close games in the playoffs when they face stronger competition imo.

who have someone like broncos beaten tho ?
but they were being crowned (including by you) to nearly go undefeated or even to the bowl.

the high scoring offenses really gives people boners for no reason when they have played nobody as well

He doesn't turn the ball over.

That's undeniable and something that can't be overlooked

Outside of that he sucks

A little above average? :usure:

Yes I been watching this kid for almost a decade, yes a little above average. He knows he not a good deep ball thrower so he just stays on short to intermediate routes. But he's thrown a couple of good deep balls, he's right in the middle as far as arm strength goes.

Maybe it's because they're destroying everybody they play? Except tonight, lol.

Out of 32 starting QBs, there is no way in hell Alex Smith has a stronger arm than 16 of them.

Are you talking about just launching it down field or doing so with success?

There is a difference.

I wouldn't say 16 but I would say 11 or 12 with 3 or 4 being arguable.
Either one. He's below average when compared to starting QBs in both areas.

It's turned into a specialized short passing league. These short passes are extensions of handoffs.
Don't remind me.

I still have nightmares of Chad Pennington "throwing" to Santana Moss and Laveranues Coles
