Another thing with Ovechkin is that he has never shorted the game. He plays with full effort and tenacity. He doesn’t “load manage”. He goes out there every night and gives it his all.

For those that have never played hockey, taking and delivering the hits and contact has had throughout his career, it is not easy to withstand that for twenty years. He’s not a small player either. He is pretty much a Russian tank on skates.

This year, he has a good chance to both break Gretzky’s goal record(894 goals) and reach the 900-goal plateau in this season. Rooting for him to do it. No forward ever scored 900 goals.

Imagine if he ever reaches the 1000-goal mark like in 3 seasons later.( if he still plays in the nhl by then, I know he’s a 39-year old veteran) No player ever in NHL history ever scored 1000 goals.

I respect the comparison, but Emmitt peaked even higher than they did!! 4 rushing titles! Tied with Barry, OJ and ED for second most after Jim Brown. First RB to win a SB as a rushing champion and he did it 3 times!! He held the single season touchdown record at one point. Iconic games, too. The legendary performance in the 93 season finale at the NYG, the opening drive of the second half of SB 28, the monster game at Philly in 93, not long after he ended his holdout. He used to give the Skins that work!! The amazing run at Atlanta in 92, the amazing run at the Raiders in 92, where he was almost beheaded!! I love the run he had against the Skins where Darrell Green ran him down and Emmitt faked like he was gonna cutback, but ran right theough DG for the long touchdown
The thing about Emmitt is he was still producing even as the cowboys fell off.
