For my sins.

And still got to a QF more recent than Mexico & US have :skip:

But @mastermind & @concise will tell you've I regularly shyt on the structure of English football, not much so in the past 3 years as I was hiatus :lolbron: .

The best crop of technical English talent will be coming over the next 5-10 years and the foundations of such go back to overhauling the system 10 years or so ago and also foreign money being invested in the youth academies such as Soton (they started before investment), Chelsea & Citeh. The problem in England the game is too money orientated to allow the players to progress unless you have the coach with the right philosophy, like a Van Gaal or Poch, who is willing to give them a chance. Also you have 18-19 y/o's earning 1m-1.5m a season when they havent done shyt to earn that, and only reason why get that salary is to stop them from joining someone else.

1st World Problems. :birdman:
English National Team is gonna look like France in 5 years :mjpls:

What the hell happened to that dude? Those Dutch Moroccans flame out quick :francis:
Yeah man they really do. He moved to Psv after being linked to top clubs which I think is where he regressed. Guys like zakaria labyad and Adel Tarabt are good examples.

I'm predicting a lot of these dutch moroccans players are going to start playing for Morocco if the Dutch team keeps these bad performances up. Morocco is on the up in African football and will probably qualify for the WC. This one guy who plays for Ajax (#11 or 10) I believe opted out to play for Morocco (I am pretty sure he is a Dutch citizen also).

They made "The Academy" to mimic what the English are doing. They practice a lot more but play a lot less games. They charge you more to be in The Academy cause they promise it will get you exposure. They ruined the competitive edge in US youth soccer. Believe me the talent is being seen but there's an agenda like everything else. I'll never support the USMNT because of this. I went through it and honestly its so fukking corrupt it's ridiculous.
can you please go into detail about this, I'm interested :feedme:

Zakaria Bakkali too, think he's playing for Valencia now

US buying tickets to the world cup means nothing, US always buys tickets to events, always watches olympics and world cups.
Doesn't have much to do with it.
Top clubs are paid to come and play MLS teams, plus it gives them exposure as well.
That said MLS was said by its president to be losing money.
They are expanding teams like the NHL did in hopes to get more views and increase money, but like the NHL its probably gonna bite them in the ass.

MLS commish said they were losing money at a time where they were negotiating with the players for higher wages. It's bullshyt. They had just signed a half billion dollar TV deal.

Its not how much you make its how much you are spending.
Team inflation is usually a sign your are losing money though

This French-Moroccan kid playing for Schalke just accepted Morocco's call-up yesterday. Dude was starting for the French U-20 team just this summer :heh:

Schalke's Amine Harit switches from France to Morocco

The Moroccan team always has tons of Dutch-born/ dual citizens players. Some werent good enough for NT, but the younger ones could have got call-ups. Current squad has 6 Dutch-Moroccans:

Boussoufa
El Ahmadi
Ziyech ( the Dutch wanted him)
Amrabat
Tannane (couldve got a call-up last year)
Mahi

Teaching kids how to play the sport at a young age isn't gonna do shyt if you don't got the income to pay for academies/camps

The real talent plays at local parks. Somewhere US Soccer would never step foot in because the kids there can't afford to pay 5k-10k a year to play on teams

Agreed

And this is the biggest problem with the US team ( Canada has this problem as well)

Soccer is a sport for rich kids in the states and very little is invested in the talented kids that don't come from privileged backgrounds.

Until US Soccer changes this, nothing will Change at all.

here is something a lot of posters dont understand....

All of our sports are like this. ALL OF THEM. The entire US sports development structure is broken. You dont see it in basketball, football, and baseball because there are a lot more kids playing in those sports and we a sports mad nation. A lot of really talented kids do not get discovered in those sports or get poor coaching as well. Soccer is not alone in that. The only difference is that its more lucrative for shoe companies to invest in youth development in those sports vs. soccer. Soccer is just displaying the flaws of our sporting system in a more magnified way. Its why we dont really have top talents in other sports anymore (like tennis for instance).

Until we get a more organized and professional mindset to youth development of athletes in this country, nothing will change.
