I dislike almost everyone on this show. I think they're either bad characters or just fukking idiots.

They're so bad I'm rooting for antagonists. The android breh is just doing his job, that mini me cac set these things loose on purpose causing all this fukkery.

And the eye creature is just trying to break out of prison. Free the guy. I want a spin off all about buddy, from it's POV because it seems like it's s smart as us. And it's willing to throw hands with the Alien.

Thats the thing tho. I don't give a fukk about some android kids being able to fight Xenomorphs. I can watch anime for all that

And even if that is what you wanted you're not gonna get that shyt on any meaningful level that's how y'all nikkas be getting finessed:mjlol:

Whoever VS the Xenomorphs has kind of been the franchise.....

from predators to feathered Indian broads :manny:

I'll give Grown Baby Supernatural baby killers a go :ehh:

What's up with the eyeball? Got me wondering if it's friend or foe.

Definitely foe.

It distracted the scientist so she wouldn't see the bugs escaping.

It called the xenomorph to the room to deal with the black dude.

It's looking out for itself. It's in survival mode.

Wild theory I was just talking about with someone.

What if the synth girl thinks she's pregnant because of the interaction with the octo-eyeball it thought she was a real woman and was trying to use her for that and somehow telepathically has her believing she's pregnant?

I mean between the sabotaging guy speaking on something laying eggs in his girlfriends eyeball and the octo-eyeball knocking the female Captain unconscious and then calling the xenomorph as a distraction when it got interrupted something is up.

Seems to be another predator trying to be the HPIC(Head Predator In Charge).
Tapped on the glass to distract the scientist so the ticks could get free.

Thought the same thing.... but the show's producer, Noah Hawley, on show's podcast confirmed "he" was distracting the scientist.

just fukking idiots.

Since Prometheus, my thinking is that being a dumb ass is a part of the job description.
  • Being sloppy
  • Being lazy
  • Defying common sense
  • Dumb science and engineering in general
It's the opposite of competence porn, it's incompetence porn.

And it's at the meta level too. It was meta decision to make those characters kids trapped inside of adult bodies. It's giving us a lot of incredible acting....but they're convenienty dumb asses as a result.

But I'll be here next week watching the same thing.

I look at it kind of like the military, which is filled with idiots and people lacking options or at the end of their rope

If right now some company came to you like "We got a job for you, we'll freeze you and ship you into space to do *whatever*. The job will be 60+ years, your pay is *whatever*"

How many nikkas taking that job? Some curious scientists and engineers sure, but a whole lotta desperate people with nothing else to lose. And those same people with nothing to lose were probably incompetent to begin with

This is why, despite my issues with the show, I do like their showcasing of the behavior of these mega corps and how they exploit people. And on the flip side showing the people that tend to be exploited

This is one of the elements of Alien I like seeing explored as opposed to constant Xenomorph battle porn

:ohhh:You make a good point. Many fans of the Alien franchise seem to have forgotten that the story is set in a cyberpunk environment. While the xenomorphs are the main focus, the cyberpunk elements often get overlooked.

Alien actually precedes cyberpunk. Mind you the first movie is set entirely on a spaceship so the cyberpunk elements may align now, but they didn't exist at the time

So now that you have a show like AE that takes place on earth, I think what we have now is a framework to flesh out certain elements. For example we see Morrow talking to Yutanei and her whole setup looks like some Ghost In The Shell shyt

Its very possible that Alien is one of the pioneers of what eventually became cyberpunk and that's why it clicks into place so well

Personally I'd say the most distinctly cyberpunk element about Alien, outside of the grimy tech aesthetic, is the existence of these hyper exploitative tech mega corps. And now here we are, in the age of Amazon and Meta :francis:
