Sounds like Foundation may be the show breh wants, especially if breh likes this show. @Ghostface Trillah you watch foundation? Great sci fi show. :wow:

I checked it out. I actually like it.

I literally said that I like this show multiple times and people want to argue because I said they could do a better job of showing the progress the human race has made in 100 years on earth OUTSIDE of Androids and spaceships. Reggie Jackson makes it 100 years into the future to inspire but in real life we got people who barely remember him and three generations that wouldn't know him if he was standing next to them.

Alright I finally watched this. This shyt is fire :wow:

My only real gripe is that 100+ years in the future and all the slang, music, and pop culture references are from 100 years in the past is high key lazy writing. Also too many people surviving their first xenomorph run ins. That chicks brother should've been packed up like 3 different times and people on the ship outrunning it.

I also worry that they'll pull a lost and create a bunch of questions that they can't answer. Like octo-eyeball is easily the most interesting character on this whole show. Only thing we ever seen want smoke with a xenomorph was him and the predators which is wild to think about. He needs a backstory immediately. Streets need to know.
It’s the genre of retro-futurism. Basically whatever people imagined the future to be in the 80’s. That’s why all the tech is analog and small computer screens with green text. All the equipment is bulky and the ships are cramped and dirty and being run by a massive super computer.

If you’ve ever played cyberpunk or fallout games or seen Bladerunner it’s the same vibe.

Don’t think of it as our future but a possible future. Metal and synth pop is still popular, nostalgia is Reggie Jackson winning the World Series and Japan is an economic and military power.

This is a good take. The retro style never bothered me in the other films. I figure better tech exists because its in Prometheus and Covenant, but there could be political, economic reasons why certain tech is only available for certain people.

In a society ran between 5 corporations they can dictate what people have access to. In real life, this would become about the richest people hoarding personal wealth and cutting business costs.

It's interesting because in 1979 that wasn't retro futurism....just futurism. Now it's retro because of how tech has advanced. Elements of 2001 a space Odyssey are the same way.

Thats the thing tho. I don't give a fukk about some android kids being able to fight Xenomorphs. I can watch anime for all that

Morrow is a cyborg. He's human but has enhancements

When he was talking to Yutanei they spoke about how her grandmother took him in. Some crippled homeless kid off the streets. Gave him a new arm and who knows what other kinds of upgrades. And Morrow, out of loyalty to the family, will do whatever they want, including retrieving dangerous alien specimens

I have a framework that I believe is the best way to approach these types of subjects

We tend to look at technology and tech advancements as linear when that's not always the case. For example refrigerators are worse now than they were 40 years ago. I think tech advancements depend on a lot of varying factors based on societies goals(most notably the greed of whoever's running shyt). This can apply to fictional societies as well

I often use Game Of Thrones as an example. Them nikkas been in medieval times for thousands of years. Why? Because with dragons there was little need for further military technology.

You can use the same type of reasoning with Alien. They have spaceships and Androids but no iPhones. But if we were a fictional world an alternate Ghostface Trillah could just as easily say :dahell: them nikkas got computer phones but no spaceships and Androids?

Then of course there's continuity. Alien:Earth is futuristic but it can't look more futuristic than Alien so the aesthetic has to remain consistent
