Yeah but in the year 21-whatever, Reggie Jackson highlights?

You telling me demolition man and Idiocracy can but they can't? Best thing about writing for the future is you can literally make up anything.

Reggie Jackson is still Reggie Jackson no matter the year. Same with Tyson, Jordan, etc.

Hell, Larry Bird hasn't played since 1992 and Gen Z right now today is reacting to his highlight videos.

I'm explaining away enjoyment of a TV show by saying this but its really wacky the how the speed and pursuit power of a xenomorph depends solely on whether or not the person its chasing is integral to the plot in any way. shyt like this has only gotten worse now that I'm older.

You could say this about any monster in any horror/sci-fi movie in history.

Corporations on unrestrained demon time

A research crew made up of dumbasses and JBO goons, the only focused and competent one has severe :manny: energy toward crew safety.

Ship AI is :childplease: to the max.

Nightmare tier alien species in cheap containment...

I don't want to see the fukkery

So you're saying Alien (1979) had lazy writing because it wasn't futuristic enough to seem futuristic to people in 2025...

full
Ok

Stop it. Literally nobody said that. We've already established that Alien wasn't on earth. You're dancing around what I'm saying.

Take a decade like the 90's. 1990 and 1999 are completely different culture wise so trying to sell that the future is just the 2000's with space exploration and Androids Is weak writing. You're telling me I got a 4k camera is 2025 but in 2120 we'll be back to grainy black and white....but with Androids while 5 Tech companies run the world? Ok :unimpressed:

Took me a minute to get what you were saying until this post. Since this takes place 2 years before Alien, they can’t show widespread use of superior technology. It wouldn’t make much sense to show 8k monitors because then they would have to explain the technological regression to black and white monitors. The show is kind of handicapped by the special effects limitations of the 70s & 80s.

They can however show superior tech with the synths because there’s only 5 of them and we don’t know what happens to them.

I hear what you're saying and I'm not here to insult you. What I'm saying is that the tech in this show is handheld by two non negotiable things:

The technology that is *shown* in alien has to be equal to or better than that in Alien Earth. That would be completely erroneous if not.

Second is that if you go back to 1978, the technology that was futuristic was based on the expectation of technological growth from people at that time. We were 20 years away from ISS launching. So, if you compare ISS in 98 and even now, it is plausible for us to have ships that look like these.

We were 10 MORE years from that from 1080p screens. Literally the concept of 4k is *more* advanced than a space station as wild as that sounds. So, yeah, in 1978, a space station is more plausible than 8K screens.

Either way, criticizing alien earth for not having more advanced tech is a bit of a non sense (no diss) criticism since it can't be more advanced than the tech shown in a movie 35+ years old.

I'm not criticizing it for not having more advanced tech. I LIKE the show. It's just a gripe that I have with ALL futuristic sci-fi movies because its lazy writing. All because the story doesn't need it to be strong. The focus is the aliens. The could just do a better job showing what a futuristic earth would be outside of the ship and Androids. How are futuristic writers still getting out done by the Jetsons?

Like I said, my biggest concern is that they don't create a bunch of questions that they can't answer because between Wendy knowing how to speak xenomorph, octo-eyeball, and the parasites running wild on earth, they have a lot to explain before the original Alien comes into play.

Morrow needs to survive. I wouldn't mind him being put into cryo so they can bring him back later. The character is that good.

The ticks are more of a threat to earth than the xenomorph because release their offspring in water.

I want that plant alien to take on one of the other aliens.

I mean they have no goverments and 4 corps running the entire world, fully humanoid robots including ones with the "consciousness" of humans, comunicacion devices that seem to be a paper like sticker, space missions that literally last lifetime made posible by cryo freezing people.

Don't really get what exactly you want? You wanna see how future barbers cut hair? How future schools work? How future people communte to work?

This is an 8 ep tv show not a Sci Fi novel series with thousands of pages of lore and world building

Why the fukk was everyone acting so weird at the beginning.

And dude literally discussed a criminal fukking conspiracy on a video call he must have known was being recorded :mjlol:
Besides the Xenomorph being dangerous when he decides to this is the only thing that took me out of the episode:mjlol:

Nikka doing these sinister whispers on a Zoom call on the muthafukin workplace server:mjlol:

And the only point was to show that the billionaire ***** user was behind the crash, there were so much better ways to let us know that.

The only reasonable outcome is everyone in this show dies on some Kavalier flew too close to the sun shyt
