i think we'll see establishments with a some tech help, i know panera has a kiosk to order food which is great when theres a big fuking line. but to completely eliminate humans is not going to happen for at least 25-30 years

engineers ftw...we are winningI can see jobs to maintain those robots on the rise in the future.
Better jump on it guys if you can.
its already happeningYou take a warehouse that employs 200 people and replace it with 10 operators, then multiply that 1000s of times. Doesn't take simple math to see the problem there.
If you don't replace the jobs you are eliminating then eventually you are going to reach a point where a lot of people are sitting around either relying on government checks or running up in your house.
automation will only make management even richer.Automation is creating new jobs with higher pay....fighting change is a waste of energy. Embrace it imo...the path into automation isnt necessarily college either.
You realize how many folks are retiring though? Jobs aren't being eliminated in manufacturing they're just changing...the amount of opportunity out there is huge. Baby boomers retiring and manufacturing coming back on sure...its out there and it doesn't require a college degree.
They are being eliminated. You don't automate anything and in return add jobs. You create jobs that didn't exist before but you eliminate a hell of a lot more old ones.
The last time there was a big shift in the workforce was when manufacturing jobs were outsourced en masse. You had buffoons get on tv and say things wouldn't change because more service jobs would be created and blah blah blah. In truth we went from a family of four being able to live comfortably on one salary to now a household needs two incomes and the median household income DIDNT increase! That had a devastating effect on not only the health of the middle class but the raising of children. You think another large elimination of middle class jobs due to automation is going to improve anything in this country?
for some reason people on this thread cant believe cacs who head major corps would be so ruthless and uncaring, but they keep forgetting the millions of jobs that got outsourced in the 2000's that lead to the current middle class crisis. If rich cacs are capable of outsourcing jobs to sweatshops who pay their workers a pittance, with no rights and constant abuse, and these executives are willing to turn a blind eye to these crimes against humanity, i dont think they would lose to much sleep automating whole industries and replacing us with robots. Automation is essentially Outsourcing 2.0, except now we arent losing jobs to indians or the chinese, we are losing our jobs to machines.honestly the dude you're responding to is absolutely clueless. not sure how many different ways you gotta explain it to him.
you didnt read the whole thing. these are gourmet quality/bigger portions sold at a cheaper price since they save money not having to pay workers. put it like this... you step out to get something to eat which would you rather choose: gourmet quality with big portions or less food thats also less quality AND more expensive?Ain't gonna work![]()
Black businesses though.Yeah,a nd that is why I advocate opening your own businesses, cause that will be the only way to make money in the first place.
Exactly, as soon as I read that I knew it wasIf only I had a dollar for each time that I've seen this thread in the rather short time that I've been here. This type of technology isn't going mainstream anytime soon. Also,at them saying that the savings in labor costs allows them to improve food quality; we all know where that money is going.
